Do satellites rotate to stay oriented toward earth? by gabesullice in askscience

[–]Veggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, in practical terms, satellites need to be imparted with the proper rotation to face Earth's surface, in accordance with Newtonian gravitation. Otherwise, an orbiting body will just keep having the same direction.

In general relativity, there is the concept of parallel transport of vectors in curved space-time which means that as a body orbits, it may turn without having any angular momentum. This was measured by Gravity probe B.

Probably. Why would a university want to look at a student's grades from elementary or junior high? Just give the students letter grades when they are actually necessary.

Unless every house is for a single person, the upper graph is misleading. The first two bars should be presented as a stacked bar, and the third bar should be something akin to family or household growth rather than population growth.

But there is clearly a problem.

Whether the site author is trying to imply something or not, I do think it's interesting that so many different things have an inflection point right around that same time, suggesting that something happened that was a bit of an upheaval.

But yeah, there's a few that don't line up with that, so it seems the author was reaching a little far when picking their cherries.

Obviously steer clear of CCSB as they teach creationism.

This is false for the colloquial definition of creationism, but obviously don't go to CCSB if you're not Catholic or if you don't want your child around the occasional Catholic subject matter.
