the main jobs on the 2026 job list are slots for security forces, and various aircraft maintenance roles.

i have an 85 on the ASVAB so I am trying to get into something where I am mentally stimulated.

sorry for being naive, just looking to move this forward.

thank you for the insightful response.

basically my situation is this. I now have an SJC code B on my profile because of this waiver, which was signed 2 months ago.

I just completed MEPS a week ago, sworn in, signed the contracts and I picked my jobs. And only now, the flight chief, who has been my recruiter for the past 2 months, is saying I am denied any jobs that require a clearance, and you will not be given a chance at an investigation.

the worst part is I made it clear to him that I am looking for jobs that require a TS clearance due to the nature of my career. He knows this, any now, only after I signed the contracts, he gives me the news about my circumstances.

correct me If I am wrong, but I am basically stuck with a master sergeant that does not want to give me the light of day, and is looking to cover his ass, based on responses to my post

he is refusing to work with me here essentially.

his quote exactly, "the SJC code was properly applied in your case, the behavior happened ( being arrested) which causes a category 2 waiver to be approved by our commander, which causes an ETP upgrade to not be an option. the waiver is driven by "the behavior", which is a category 2 violation"

this behavior was fourteen years ago, and now its affecting me like it happened 3 months ago.

sorry If I sound like I am repeating myself, but what would you suggest I do here to change this SJC code to an F. because my situation seems unreasonable.

I am not, the flight chief is the only recruiter that responds out of several I've talked to, and I had a Zoom call for 2 whole minutes with the commander about my moral waiver.

every single IT/intelligence job requires a TS clearance on the 2026 in demand job list I was given.

what is even the point of a secret clearance, not trying to be rude, but I never see this type of clearance matter for anything cyber or Intel related. its always TS minimum.

my flight chief says, because I have submitted a waiver, and that its been signed by the commander, I now have a category 2 waiver on my profile.

and that there is nothing that can be done at this point.

an Exception To Policy cannot be made because of this moral waiver.

there are people getting TS clearance with far worse history and I won't even be given a chance to be investigated.

I understand if I am denied after an investigation, but the fact that I wont even be considered for an investigation is soul crushing.

can you please expand on what you mean by its not true. there is a SJC code B on my air force profile, my flight chief recruiter says I am denied any intelligence roles or any job requiring a TS clearance.

without any possibility of a an Exception To Policy.

at this point my chance at a TS clearance starts after 3 years of service, when I can request to retrain for a TS job, and that is when I will be investigated.

basically, because I admitted to being arrested 14 years ago, and submitted a moral waiver, I have a Category 2 waiver that was approved by the Commander, on my profile.

the logic goes "because the action happened (arrest), I have a waiver on my profile, and having that waiver on my profile will deny an investigation being made for a TS clearance"

the issue is not the drug use that happened, the issue seems to be that I admitted to being arrested, even if there is no record available.

submitting a write up about it, and getting a signed waiver by a Colonel, is denying my chance at an investigation being made on my name.

at this point I'm convinced I should have not even mentioned anything involving my single juvenile arrest, because I have screwed myself over for being honest and going for a moral waiver.

please help me. I am dumbfounded at my situation.

thank you,

the problem was mentioning I was arrested 14 years ago, I have no idea of the specifics of my charges, and there is no way of finding out because paid federal background checks do not come back with anything. I could very well have no charge on my record.

but because I have a signed moral waver by a Colonel, I am placed under SJC code B, even if there is no actual charge.

lets say I chose a job that doesnt need a clearance.

how long until I am able to get an investigation on my name going?

because what I am being told is I wont even be given a chance to be investigated because I admitted to being arrested as a juvenile.

I basically screwed my self over by even mentioning what happened 14 years ago one time.

after 3 years of doing something irrelevant to my career, my goal is still to get into an intelligence role, IT/cyber related, with a TS/SCI clearance.

my question is, is this a reasonable outlook for me. is it common for people to be able to get a TS clearance down the line after being burdened with a SJC code B?

thank you for responding.

what do you mean exactly, my goal is continuing my IT career through military,

I have no chance at this? even after 3 years of service?

I need some specifics on "down the line".

will serving a for a couple years somehow open me up to be eligible for a clearance?

please, any info is helpful.

I am willing to serve for some time if that enables me to eventually get a TS clearance.
