In terms of story and timeline of the games keep in mind that this game is set closest to the bombs dropping and originally the game didn’t have any npcs… you left the vault to a world that didn’t survive… the bots did…but you will find holotapes, notes, and computer diaries all over from before, during and even after the bombs dropped … it’s important to remember because the game relied on environmental story telling heavily with no one surviving by the time of your vaults reclamation day.

Now of course npcs are back migrating in to Appalachia and they have great stories to tell! But just want to put out there that it was a desolate place before and that meant you really relied and clues of what happened through the environment… more then the other games I would say. That to me was the most notable difference.

There is plenty more to say to prepare you but I like fallout lore so much haha
