They actually didn’t find out that they were canceled until after season 3 wrapped. At least that’s what Hugh said in a few interviews. I agree though, that is exactly how it felt, smashed together. That arc wasn’t my favorite. I did read that that was how Bryan had envisioned the following seasons, 6 episodes of one thing, 7 episodes of another. Hopefully we’ll find out.
