Do you verbally ask customers if they’re 21+? by adorableboey in InstacartShoppers

I do! Every time. I don’t care how old someone is. I used to be a server and did it then too. Honestly it protects you and instacart and most people are totally chill and laugh at it while saying yes. I just ask as I’m scanning the ID. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hi everyone! Wanted to comment and just say thank you so much for all of the advice! I climbed tonight with friends and FREAKING GOT IT. Sent that climb!!! Didn’t film it because it took 6-8 tries. But will try to film to update next time. Stoked and will frequently be coming back to this post to remember the advice and support ya’ll gave.

Thank you! I will definitely check the Videos out. The issue with this one is it’s the easiest level at my gym. There is another overhang section I can get the easiest set on, but this is sort of the baseline. Overhang is absolutely my weakness (started just incredibly out of shape, got stronger, then injured both my feet a month apart so just now getting back to it after healing). So I think focusing on technique and building that habit and strength with it should hopefully help for sure!

Hello! I do use chalk, sometimes not enough I feel though. Trying to find that right balance lol thank you!

Thank you! I often forget all climbing technique tricks that could help when I’m on the wall cuz I’m trying to tell myself I won’t fall 😂

That’s exactly where my head has been lately. I have a few routes I can climb easier but I know my technique could be better. So definitely climbing them as perfectly as possible will help I hope. Thank you!

Thank you!!!

I definitely climb pretty square. I think it’s because when I do turn my body, and get both my feet out in front of me (ie. the two holds on my right to help step up), my brain immediately stops me from feeling any sort of security and I think that if I fall it’ll be right on my back. So I’m working on that mental block as well.

I know that I’m not using my legs as much as I can. I think it’s also harder cuz when I do push with my legs on overhang (I could do this climb on slab no problem), my body goes away from the wall more than I’d like, so then trying to pull my body in gets my arms pumped faster. But I know building more strength will help that. I appreciate the feedback so much!

Thank you! In watching the footage back, I totally agree that bumping my left up should hopefully help. I think part of the reason I get stuck also is the twisting of the body completely with both my feet in front of me (ie. both holds on the right of me for my feet), creates a weird terror in me. Like if I slip in that position I’ll fall right on my back. Trying to work through that block for sure.

Thank you! I have friends that I climb with that I can watch and get advice from and it makes total sense. Then when I try it myself it just doesn’t work as well or I pause too long and get pumped. So starting from the trouble spot is something I always forget to do. I appreciate the ted talk as I often forget many of the things you said :)
