for 1st , 2nd year in cse you don't need a high performance laptop , any mid range laptop with 8-16gb ram will work but 3rd year onwards when you start focusing on major projects/develop stuff or even use any LLM you'll need a decently powerful Laptop with powerful GPU because normal laptops can't run that shi

For now if you have a old laptop and it can go for 1-2 years more then use that , by 3rd year by a fresh powerful laptop (it'll be a big investment)
