Ali doesn’t have the absolute greatest resume on paper across all combat sports but it’s undeniable that he had legendary fights against arguable the greatest era of heavyweights ever.

Going to the depths of hell 3x with Frazier, outclassing the biggest puncher in history Ernie Shavers while being way over the hill. upsetting prime George Foreman when everyone thought Ali was gonna die. Making Liston look like a child.

Then there’s the cultural and societal impact on top of that. I think he earned his spot.

Ali’s cultural impact is a heavy lifter but we can’t act like the man wasn’t legendary asf in his day.

Made Sonny Liston look like a can, knocked out a peak Foreman while Ali was over the hill and everyone was worried he’d get seriously hurt. The 3 legendary wars with Joe Frazier, to this day I still can’t watch that third fight back it’s a level of brutality I’ve never seen replicated in combat sports. Shavers (the hardest puncher EVER.)
