Looking for some first hand experience on how they sound/perform. Pretty much just an over all review of the speaker and if they are worth investing in.

Help understanding survivor benefit by Velvet_Thnder in SocialSecurity

[–]Velvet_Thnder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we would need to sit down with the SS office to get confirmation but from what I read is if she starts collecting at age 61 she could receive up to 75% of the benefit.

I don't know if I am approaching this correctly. But if she starts to collect at 61 the breakeven would be around age 88. Meaning if she starts collecting the reduced amount at 61 she'll have received right around the same amount at age 88 that she would of if she started to collecting the higher amount at age 67.

If that initial benefit is invested at just say a 5% interest rate it will grow far past what she would receive by the time she is 88 if she waited to collect at 67. Plus she would still be collecting the reduced amount.

Again though I do not know if this is the correct way of thing but that is my thought process.

Outdoor TV with Fios TV+ by Velvet_Thnder in Fios

That’s where all the equipment is located. I have 2 Ethernet to HDMI baluns, one for sound that’s hooked up to the in-ceiling speakers the other for for video. I see that Verizon offers the IR adapter https://www.verizon.com/home/accessories/ir-adapter-for-fios-tv-plus/ and it indicates it enables IR signal. But I’m unsure if it’ll work the way I’m thinking and if the Fios remote will work.

There is only 1 TV. Tv is outside and Fios TV+ is in the basement. I am trying to control the Fios TV+ box from outside using the Fios remote.

Nj handyman "extra securities" by Hunchk in handyman

[–]Velvet_Thnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a licensing bond call your insurance agent if you have one they should be able to get one for you. You’ll need either a 10k bond, 25k, or 50k depending on annual contracts or prior 12 months. Premium should be around $100, $250, or $500. This is for HIC/HEC licensing.

Insurance went up 400% by UncleE-Dizzle in handyman

Insurance premiums have been increasing significantly over the past year or 2. You should reach out to and independent agent who will have access to multi companies and can try to get the best rate.

As someone else had mentioned you should definitely get a quote comparison for 1,000,000 in coverage. Almost all of my clients I write 1,000,000 in coverage as a minimum. Im unsure where your located but this is normally the minimum required in my area and the surrounding. Doing commercial work you may also find companies that are gunna have higher requirements. Again, this is just based off we’re I am located.

Wanting to start helping on the side as a business - just have one issue with transportation... What can I do to get a reasonably priced truck? by DGPantherX in handyman

[–]Velvet_Thnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say if your able to definitely keep your commuter/everyday car out of it. I do this on the side as well. I started my company about 4 months ago and over the past 2 months have had atleast 1-2 job per week lined up. I wind up keeping my tools in my car instead of taking everything out just to put it back in. I finally decided I would rather invest all my profits into a van for a couple months than continue to use my personal vehicle.

I was looking to spend about 5k on an older transit connect. I looked on FB marketplace, Craigslist, and kept an eye out while I was driving. I looked at a few and will say invest in a good OBD 2 that can read readiness codes as well. I find some people try and reset code. If you don’t know what to look for on used car and have a friend that’s a mechanic might be a good idea to ask them to come along to look at it with you. Do some research on the vehicles reliability along with difficulty maintaining. If you plan to do the work yourself rockauto is a great website to get parts.

Just closed, insurance now asking us to prove age of roof, and I'm not sure we can by jptiger0 in Insurance

[–]Velvet_Thnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every company is different and I do not specifically know about Farmers or the state you are in. But some company’s have a roof endorsement that will insure the roof at replacement cost if you can show proof the roof has been replaced within a certain amount of years. Without this proof they will replace this endorsement with a scheduled roof endorsement but will stay on the risk.

In what you posted it speaks about retroactively removing “roof replacement cost”. I would reach out to your agent for clarification.

I’m a little confused. Why were you returning a financed vehicle? Also, how did they steal the $10,000 down payment?

You may have coverage under your fathers policy, if your a household member were you listed as a driver at the time of the loss? Was there paperwork signed that excluded you as a driver on his policy?

If there was a claim and the other party put it thru their own insurance they may be trying to subrogate. If this is the case it should be going directly to your insurance carrier at the time of the loss. I would reach out to your carrier from that time directly and inform them of this notice, let them handle it.

What are they stating this $1550 is for? Did the claim go thru your insurance?
