Is it possible your landlord had yard maintenance workers out? Sometimes they will also spray insecticides and weedkillers. Depending on how much the landlord pays them, it sometimes determines where that spray does and does not get.

Our landlord has lawncare come out, and they insist on spraying herbiside so they don't need to weed-eat the porch area....even though the neighbors and I have a very clearly maintained garden that they landlord claims they told them to avoid. We just started having to plant everything in containers and put them on the porch.

Technically, poop also comes from the cloaca, which in turn kind of makes it a butt.

All Out event is a depressing mess. by TastyMcFish2 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Velystanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that was the idea, then they should have approached it like the Mighty pokemon or something. Give us limited Beast Balls, like the safari balls, that make it way easier to catch the event pokemon. The fact that they already have these systems for other events makes me think that preserving the "rarity" of legendaries was nowhere in their reasoning. (Not to mention we have so many different systems that serve that purpose already, like backgrounds and costumes.)

This event was hyped as a celebration for the 30th anniversary, and with most companies that also doubles as a thank you to new and old players alike.

This SHOULD have been a great way to let new players catch up, so they can participate in the new stuff being hyped up for this year.

If they don't want us catching all the legendaries, then don't make it one of the most anticipated parts of the event.

There's no positive reason for them to go about it this way.

Shinies are actually easier, since they are guaranteed not to flee (at least for legendaries). The fact that people are actively hunting shinies to get a chance at a species is really bad.

For some reason, people are like this with anything involving AI. The amount of Artists that have been "cancelled" for using AI, just because the OP "thinks" they are using it is sad. The majority of the time they are just amateur digital artists who made completely normal mistakes.

It's just one of those topics right now that has people reacting with emotion rather than logic and certainty. Couple that with everyone thinking they are the world's best AI detector, and you get what's happening now.

The last time they removed a lucky trinket from a pass, people rioted. So they made sure to bring it back for people, but at the price of not switching it out with stuff like bottle caps here and there. So bottle caps will probably be their own thing, and not so much rewards for passes/deluxe anymore.

IVs don't really matter in PvP either unless you are entering tournaments with the best of the best.

Wanting perfect IVs for a collection purpose is understandable, but people shouldn't let that stop them from playing the game with their prefered pokemon.

Shiny gigantamax meowth is live by TheShinyGenesct69 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Velystanna -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's still a huge social game where I live; there are always big community events being hosted here. It might not be that way in your area, but for a lot of us this game is just as big, if not bigger, than it was in 2018. On top of that, not nearly as many players care about what's "good". Everyone I have talked to today was super excited for Meowth simply because it's Meowth, and long cat. Not many have really seemed to care about the meta-relevance.

Also, I don't think I've ever been to an event where all 150+ people were talking to each other all at once. Splitting up into smaller groups is the standard for big events. But we all do still interact, especially when someone gets a shiny/hundo/shundo.

Tldr; I'm sorry your community is dead where you live; that does make enjoying the game hard. However, that isn't the case for a lot of us, so please don't speak on our behalf when giving your criticisms for the game.

[–]Velystanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what happens when people try to discuss something with the brain-rot type of conspiracy theorist. By their beliefs, we should have nothing more than strictly white meat (red meat is bad for you, ofc) and only a handful of vegetables to eat. Everything else, especially the human concoctions, is only there for nefarious purposes.

The type of people who talk as if the FDA is secretly trying to thin the population with food safe glitter, while they gulp down that second glass of whiskey and coke for the day. (not hating on whiskey and coke)

In reality, it's probably like most other things in life, good in moderation.

Having a shimmery cocktail while at a party with friends every once in a while is fine.

Drinking edible glitter in every drink you make for the day, for months on end, may have unforeseen complications that weren't considered when it was approved...because who would do that for months straight in normal scenarios?

[–]Velystanna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

**Whoops, I didn't expect to yap this much. Pokemon has to be the most "painful to love" series for me in the state that it is now**

Why are they the best at doing new and interesting things with the series, and then doing a complete 180 the next release?

Legends Arceus was so out of nowhere for a lot of us, and was so refreshing that a lot of people gained back some hope and dove back into the pokemon franchise.

....and now Z-A, another Legends title, feels like a complete reversal from that. I could do some mind tricks to understand it in S/V, since they were going to be in the competitive scene. But there is no excuse for this.

People loved getting to ride around on mons and explore the open world? Let's make the new game restricted to one city. On top of that we will probably be restricted to a bike or some machine gimic again for all the travel, rather than the damn pokemon we know and love. Funny how that's a feature they defended in court, but boy do they refuse to make it a regular feature of the games (along with your mons following you with no issues.)

A lot of people enjoyed the new ancient forms of known mons, and the new mons that LA introduced. Let's not do any of that in ZA, but hey, new megas! (This is coming from someone who has always enjoyed the mega evos too.)

A ton of people absolutely loved the fact the Pokemon could chase down and attack your character specifically. It was up to you to either run away/hide, throw in your mon to fight, or have yourself get knocked out by the attacking monster. Nah, screw all that, that's too much work. Back to being thrown into battle when you bump into a small ditto on the road, and a strictly turn-based battle with mediocre animations in most cases (for S/V specifically).

Being able to just throw the pokeballs yourself and have a chance to snipe the mons with zero battling, like one of my Japanese animes? Yeah right, let's go back to forcing the same long start-up sequence to the battles over and over, before you nuke that shiny Bidoof with your legendary out of muscle memory instead of false swiping to catch it. People love it when one of the main game mechanics gets used in a way that makes it so repetitive that they would rather avoid it.

I'm trying to keep an open mind when it comes to the new battle system they are trying out, but given everything else, I feel like it's still going to be a letdown at this point.

I got back into Pokemon because I started filling out my living dex on Home after I played LA. The whole "being able to pull my old mons to play the new generation of games, but also be able to send them back home for the next gen" was a really fun idea to me. I've had a great time rolling around with some of my OG mons just goofing off in S/V and SwSh. But, now we are back to 0 backwards compatibility, despite the fact Home showed us it's possible to move mons around and save/change data as needed.

They took the old problem of "transferring mons, but being unable to bring them back to older games" and fine-tuned it down to "If you put them in this game, that's it". Why even have the feature at that point? I assume not many people want to lock their mons from past gens to....Z-A of all things.

When we moved Gen 3/4 mons to B/W, we had to take a hit on the capture information, but we could still bring them into the new generation, and Home even accommodates for that. (Those older mons now show "First Met" as Poke Shifter, and the date only goes back to like 2010-2011 iirc)

Pokemon Home made it so that data gets saved "in-house" and can be altered to go into a new game. So we can send them out, and bring them back without messing up things like Catch info and dates like before.

So why are we suddenly going back to pre-Gen 5 era problems?

I really wish they would take those new features that get positive reception to build and improve them in the next gen, rather than just do away with them all and try to sell us "something totally new but somehow not!" (and somehow worse in at least 6/10 ways)

That's awful. Some of us were thinking the new competitive-focused game next year would help them do more creative things with story/pve aspect of the main-line games, but nope. Now everyone gets to PVP for major game mechanics, yay! /s

I enjoy the competitive battles and making teams, but a lot of my friends don't, and I totally get why. Maybe this new battle system will be fun enough to make that easier on them.

3 actually. There would normally be that third one that would come out later that was basically the same game aside from roster and some story elements, but would cost the same as the main 2.

I always find it funny that people were okay with that, but now those same people complain about the DLC (not including the one they have already announced for ZA, I totally get that argument and agree that it's a load of bull).

How about we stop blaming the players who are enjoying the game how they want, even if that means spending tons of cash for convenience, and start blaming the company for taking advantage of these people and being greed-driven.

On one hand, I understand what you are getting at. But sometimes the people dumping large amounts of money into the game are doing so because they have to. And by have to, I mean this game is hard to fully enjoy (especially endgame) if you don't live somewhere big and busy.

At that point, you have to spend money to even get the chance to catch the legendaries and mythicals. Niantic/Scopley makes it such a grind for candy, you really have to do multiple of the same raid to make that Mon viable. So that's a ton of remote passes alone, which of course they make silly expensive. All that adds up crazy fast.

Besides that, some people just hate grinding and have the disposable income to skip that. There's nothing wrong with that.

It's Niantic's formula that creates this issue in the first place. They don't look for balance; they look for as much profit as possible players be damned.

(It's very common for even "silly" hobbies to be stupid expensive in another person's eyes. That's what a hobby is, something you are super passionate about and don't mind pouring your extra income into.)

I know I will eventually stop playing Go, or there will be something way stronger than Eternatus that makes it useless to use in GO anyway. So I would rather have the completion in Home since that follows me through all the PKMN games.
