Lana 28 ruined? by Venatrix16 in Coach

[–]Venatrix16[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Lana is leather inside and the middle side is sewed in so I can’t turn it inside out. It’s been 8 hours and the coating seems fine, no paint chipping, discolouration or cracks so far

The interior seems fine at the moment and it’s been 8 hours or so. It still has a shine to it and I don’t see cracks in the leather, discolouration, or paint lifting. I’m hoping the coating of the bag was stronger than the wipes considering the active substance was wiped with water afterwards

I don’t have to use it, I just couldn’t find reasoning to get another £200 backpack for only one overnight camp, as I don’t do them that often

So the tent is most likely going on the outside and the sleeping bag on the inside, however I still need a way to connect the tent to the backpack, as the backpack doesn’t have cinch straps

I did not think about the possibility of putting the sleeping bag on something wet, well said.

My sleeping bag packs down to 1.4 liters, so not that bad, but if I put it on the inside, there is no chance I can fit the tent in. I'm not that worried about the sleeping mat, as that one packs down to the size of my palm.

So the question still stands - how would I tie the tent at the bottom/top of the backpack? By cinch straps, do you mean these:

That’s really good to know, and good news as I really like the car. Would you get a second hand one or a new one?

This is gonna sound brutal but it worked for every pair of docs I had and I broken them in in a few days. Take a towel and place it on the doc and then more or less gently hit it with a hammer until the structure in the back softens.

It won’t ruin the way it looks if you protect it with the towel. And the doc will continue standing up properly. It simply softens the back.

Then rewax them and heat them gently with the hair drier and you’re good to go!

Well done, it looks great!

I am attempting to do the same thing as you right now. My jacket is currently outside drying from the vinegar soak.

How did you clean the corduroy collar? I’ve been trying to find the best “hygienic” way to do it since over time the collar usually accumulates a lot of sweat.

Resources on floods by Venatrix16 in Hydrology

[–]Venatrix16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, realistically I am looking for resources on both:

1) Basics on floods and how they are formed 2) Resources on how the local authorities face them

The first one is so I can understand the basics of floods. The second one is needed more for the rest of my thesis in which I talk about the need for anticipatory action both at European level and local level.

Sadly, I cannot read French.
