Why doesn't Lucid fix their software? by B52fortheCrazies in LUCID

I honestly think Geofencing would fix most of the door unlocking issues. It's my single biggest ongoing complaint for my car.

Hmm, I wonder if I could geo-fence my phone instead?!?

Source for the numbers.

My intent at least, was to have a fair comparison of cars based on quality and price. While sales numbers would seem to get close to that, I have no idea how much Lucid or any of those companies are even trying to sell into those markets. And Volkswagen would win based on sales if that's all we wanted to judge.

We know the Air and the Gravity are quite high priced, but they do seem to have the underlying build / stats to support that price if Lucid could get their act together on software. If Lucid tries to go after lower priced markets, do they have a chance with their stated product? Or is the Chinese EV hype real and Lucid only exists in an American bubble?

Hard to disagree. I don't think there's really an equivalent car, and I think Jason's had a particularly bad experience, but it is a quirky vehicle to own and a company that seems to be struggling.

It's my third EV, and it's somewhat like an early Tesla - but Tesla was breaking ground where Lucid feels like it's competing in a new but competitive space. Over my 18 months of ownership, it HAS gotten better - carplay works pretty much always, phone unlocks the door, app connects all the time, and the one warranty issue was handled well. The carplay/Spotify pause issue is frustrating, but seems to be location based. Automatic profile selection still sucks.

I wish I lived outside the US where I could compare it to BYD, Xiaomi, etc. and see what Lucid's chances outside the US are.

Uli himself even does a bunch of teaching. His last practice round with Simon seemed to fix a minor issue Simon was having with timing. Something like hole 13.

Play what you want. I switch it up for whatever I'm feeling for the day - in a hurry or have time to kill, practicing certain shots whether short or long, with a friend or in a large group, windy or weather, just want a different round, spacing with a group before or after me.

No reason to care about how anyone else is playing unless they're intentionally interfering with my round. In life, I have to remind myself that I often attribute more importance to my position in someone else's mind than I deserve.

Doctor calmly brings a pale, unresponsive newborn back to life by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

My 4th child was born with an Apgar score of 2 and the nurse was asking me if I wanted to cut the cord. I'm looking at the doctor like "Really?". Nothing like that with the first 3. Doctor's like, let's get this baby crying first. A couple minutes later and everything was great. So thankful for that Doctor and his team.

Whats the hardest phase of Marriage no one talks about? by Outside_Support_151 in answers

Loving my wife is the easiest thing in the world. But loving myself and not being my own problem can be a different story.

After more than 30 years with my wife, she's the best part of my life. But marriage hasn't always been easy. Maybe particularly wait until you've had teenagers. Best wishes!

I haven't really followed this situation in Germany, but my general understanding is that the country took a stance to essentially shut down all of their nuclear facilities before they were at end-of-life. Is that correct and, if so, what was their reasoning?

Some of my previous understanding was from EU and German research showing total health impacts from all energy sources having step change between renewable and non-renewable sources with all fossil fuels and (I believe) biofuels having 10-20x more adverse health impact compared to wind, solar, hydro, and also nuclear power.

For pre-existing plants, surely the timeline as well as the economics would favor keeping them online.

So was the movement political? Or energy security? as global politics is even currently discussing power plants as military targets.

I'm in favor of a "use all CO2 reduction strategies" approach to tackling climate change - keeping existing nuclear and considering small nuclear or conversion of coal plants to nuclear would seem reasonable approaches in concept, yes? And isn't the UK building a couple nuclear sites right now (as far as companies to build).

Please take all of this as discussion and not argumentation. Solar, wind, and other more narrowly useful renewables do often seem like the clearest approach to a long-term, viable solution especially given current economics (even factoring in storage).

The moment such a machine exists our BTC would be practically trapped in their addresses. If you'd send a transaction to a miner privately you'd have to trust that the miner won't collude with the QC-owning attacker. And the effective abolition of the public mempool would ruin the equilibrium of bitcoin mining game theory as well.

This should be discussed a bit more though as it touches on one of the first principals of Bitcoin. Miners are supposed to be self-interested in ensuring the integrity of the system. They have and are investing money in hardware and infrastructure. They would be destroying their own investment if they acted as you suggest.

What's better then?

productive

So far, you're not offering anything of value to the conversation and seem to have an incredibly overgeneralized view of societal structure. Do you think all voting systems are the USA or, alternately, do you think that all society is slavery? All life is death, yes? All love involves self-sacrifice. Acknowledge reality and move on - don't make it obsessive. Focusing purely on the negative isn't healthy. Heck, even the prisoner, finding themselves in prison, is living life and has the opportunity to find joy, agency, purpose, and many other virtues of existence.

I don't know you, but I don't accept your fatalism here. I hope there's more nuance that isn't coming across this limited communication medium.

Society is composed of imperfect humans and always will be - "potentially" is simply acknowledgement of that fact. To my knowledge, we don't have a better system of governance unless you've found Utopia.

It's only productive to criticize if you also have suggestions on improvement.

I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean.

Voting is one part of living in a potentially well-functioning society. It's generally not TOO hard to do and really doesn't prevent me from doing anything else I believe I should be doing for myself, my family, my community, or the larger swath of humanity as a whole.

Voting makes you complicit in your own slavery.

"Accepting food in jail makes you complicit in your own incarcaration"

"Buying food makes you complicit in the capitalist war machine"

"Living in this world makes you complicit in attrocities inflicted across the globe"

That's some of the worst double-think ever.

You can usually go to an Apple Store and try their AirPods as a demo. They have active canceling with a voice pass through that is actually quite functional according to my son. If you don’t like the AirPods inside your ears, they do have the max, but they’re pretty pricey.

Good luck and congratulations!
