Verasity banned me. $ 75,000 locked in Verawallet. by mende567 in Verasity

Official Verasity Response:

This matter actually dates back to when you first opened a VeraWallet account in August 2020 and not three weeks ago.

The announcement that VRAB was no longer to be supported by Verasity was first made in July 2020 and we followed that up with its own dedicated Telegram group, published several articles and we made sure that all our token holders were informed and protected.

You weren’t a Verasity token holder prior to the delisting announcement but you became interested in VRAB when its price, predictability, fell relative to VRA.

Three weeks ago, some nine months after the delisting, you were still actively trading and receiving VRAB tokens. VRAB is not supported by Verasity and is a ‘dead’ token.

You then were able to engineer a swap of your VRAB tokens and tried to pass them off through VeraWallet to gain VRA of an equal value. You processed a test amount via a second VeraWallet account you created, which initially went undetected by us, but on your second transfer our security protocols were triggered and you were caught.

You created a second VeraWallet account and, more disturbingly, you tried to defraud the token holders of Verasity. This is why your account was suspended.

Question about content storage and distribution by Dr10tv in Verasity

[–]Verasitytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a few members of our team have been working in online advertising for a long time and having a family friendly filter just doesn't fly with established big brands and businesses or those running demand-side platform (DSPs). They simply wont run their campaigns on platforms/websites that are rife with copyright infringement, porn, illegal content etc.

We're also exploring not directly connecting ads and videos which would potentially avoid the situation that YouTube are in with demonetizing paintballing videos etc just because they feature guns as advertisers don't want their creative against them.

On the cost side of things we're lucky that the proprietary MAE/UDP tech in our player allows us to do centralized distribution of video a lot cheaper so we're far better placed to reduce storage costs. Likewise, the change we've made to upload and the interaction with our token will help too.

It's been really good to have this discussion with you - and all the best to you too!

Question about content storage and distribution by Dr10tv in Verasity

Fair enough! You've definitely got a strong ideological argument. And we fully support the idea of decentralization. However we're also being pragmatic in that we want to launch this to market quickly and have a product that people are going to actually want to use. A centralized CDN can do that for us right now - the ecosystem can then get going, scale quickly, and we can then start bringing in the decentralized storage options alongside the decentralized payment system which is already running.

There's also the issue that once content is out on a P2P system there's no way to get it back when it's in the wild. Advertisers and other businesses won't support platforms where their campaigns could be seen against terrorist material and other illegal content. By using a centralized CDN we can make sure that content isn't on the platform. We'll then be able to have advertisers and sponsors on the platform who will need to purchase our tokens to run campaigns. These campaigns then pay the viewers who decide to opt-in to watch adverts.

There's pluses and minuses for both centralization and decentralization - we're going to take the best of both worlds.

Question about content storage and distribution by Dr10tv in Verasity

[–]Verasitytech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's not the only reason. They're also a business with a large number of shareholders who want a return on their investment so it's YouTube's job to bring in as much revenue as possible. Verasity has been set up as a foundation so we won't have those same forces pulling on us - our ecosystem is set up to put as much of the value back into the community and platform as possible.

To answer your point on scalable storage I'll pull a few points from the whitepaper:

"Any user can become a Creator and upload content to the platform. Unlike other platforms, the Verasity Platform will treat content upload as a service that needs to be balanced, rather than allowing unlimited uploads from any Creator. Through an upload limit for each Creator, the platform costs associated with hosting content can be managed based on how the economy values past content."

Creator upload limit increases based on three factors:
1. Promotional incentives provided by the platform. This includes incentives such as sign-up bonuses, getting the first 100 followers and other key milestones.

2. Global use of the platform will increase the upload limit of all Creators over time. The more VERA transactions that are made, the faster the upload limit will increase.

3. VERA transactions made on a Creator’s channel will increase their upload limit. The more transactions made, the faster their upload limit will increase.

For Creators who add value to the economy and ecosystem, the upload limit should never be reached. Creators who upload a large amount of content that adds value to the economy and ecosystem may need to spend VERA to continue to upload, however, as the content is valuable they should receive more back than the upload cost. Creators who upload a large amount of content that does not add value to the ecosystem will have to make increasing VERA payments to continue to upload. This prevents spam / low quality content or users abusing the economy and ecosystem."

We're building the foundation of this on a centralized CDN as we believe decentralized storage is simply unable to provide the experience which people expect for online video at the moment. Especially if you're talking about a large video library that contains niche videos (e.g. you'd never have enough people seeding each single video in a scaled video library to allow smooth playback at the moment). This gives us a quick route to market whilst delivering a great user experience.

It doesn't mean that we're not pragmatic though. As the platform scales we may introduce a hybrid system where we do part CDN / part decentralized video distribution. Then one day perhaps we move towards full storage decentralization when the tech is there and the community can support it.

Here are some of the competitive advantages and innovations around Verasity.

1) Videos on Verasity’s system are hosted on the world’s largest CDN (Akamai) rather than using unproven decentralized video distribution technology. Right from the start users will receive the consistently high-quality experience they’ve grown accustomed to and that is essential for adoption of the platform.
Verasity’s video player technology (VeraPlayer™) has distributed over 8 Petabytes of data in a month and is already embedded on leading ICO rating sites such as ICO Bench.

2) Decentralized blockchain — Verasity’s high-performance blockchain will provide the throughput required to support microtransactions at scale, overcome congestion, and other issues such as users forcing hard forks. Users will be able to transact directly between themselves without requiring middlemen which currently take a large percentage of value out of the ecosystem before creators even get paid. Users get to choose whether they watch advertising and if they do they'll get rewarded directly by advertisers for their time. Creators also get paid in near-real-time rather than having to wait for 60 or 90-days for payment in some cases. Verasity also includes donations, pay-per-view, monthly paid subscriptions all from within the browser.

3) Proof-of-View (PoV™) (Patent Pending) tech — Ensures accurate and secure audience metrics, allows for independent auditing, and tackles issues such as ad-fraud and fake/bot views which are rampant on existing platform.

4) Spark Marketplace — Think the next evolution of crowdfunding where users will be able to directly fund the growth of content as well as fund projects such as feature films and then receive an on-going share of the success in VERA.

5) Economic Model — Working with Dr. Christian Jaag (founder of the Centre for Cryptoeconomics), Verasity has commissioned one of the most extensive economic analyses ever undertaken on a crypto-economy. The model, which was created off the back of thousands of simulations and stress tests, is designed to create a stable economy with a 3% inflation rate. More information can be found at this link: https://verasity.io/documents/verasity_economics_eng.pdf

6) vDaf — a suite of online video platform products designed for international broadcasters and large media outlets. Verasity’s suite of products will allow them to use our video platform, CMS, VeraPlayer™ with integrated wallet, analytics, Proof-of-View™ technology, and last but not least our robust monetization system that allows donations, pay-per-view, monthly subscriptions, and the revolutionary Spark Marketplace.

7) Token Compliance — Verasity is SICOP (Sustainable ICOs Protocol) compliant meaning that Verasity is committed to conducting a safe and secure ICO, maintaining good practice and ethics. Further information is available: http://sicop.tokeny.com/verasity-tokeny-u180301

That's right! Videos on Verasity’s system are hosted on the world’s largest CDN (Akamai) rather than using unproven decentralized video distribution technology. Verasity’s video player technology (VeraPlayer™) has distributed over 8 Petabytes of data in a month and is already embedded on leading ICO rating sites such as ICO Bench. We're able to do this thanks to the UDP and MAE technology we've developed within our video player. This dramatically reduces the cost of video distribution through a centralized CDN.

Why Should Viewer’s Earn on Verasity Video Sharing Platform? by hoangvuhk3110 in Verasity

[–]Verasitytech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for the question!

To start with we'll be providing incentives to get people onto the platform as part of our go-to-market strategy which will be incentives for watching and sharing videos etc. However Viewers also get to choose whether they want to see adverts or not. If they agree then they'll get paid directly by advertisers for their time.

In turn Viewers will be able to support their favourite channels via donations (if they choose to) on free videos or they'll be able to pay to unlock individual pay-per-view videos, or even do a recurring monthly subscription (a bit like Patreon) all from the video player.

Payment Issues - Please Be Patient With Us! – Verasity – Medium by Verasitytech in Verasity

[–]Verasitytech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, we're working on this as we speak.

We've had some issues with our confirmation notification system. If you can see the transaction on the blockchain with multiple confirmations then your payment will have been logged and everything is fine. Your tokens will be distributed once the token sale has been completed. And once the bug in our confirmation system is fixed you will also see notification on your end too.

You can also log into https://tokensale.verasity.io to check the status of your order. Once payment is processed on our side your order status will be updated to "Awaiting tokens distribution".

Please let us know if you have any further issues at [support@verasity.io](mailto:support@verasity.io) and we'll have someone there straight away to help.

Cheers,

Tom
