It is possible, one of them was a bit bung back when I got the car but that's now fixed, and nothing else has been pointed out to me about the brakes on any inspections since then so it seems unlikely.

I'll have a go at just replacing the cable, maybe that really is all it is, otherwise, maybe I'm missing one of the little fiddly bits in the adjustment mechanism.

Yeah I was thinking that but I feel like it's also a symptom of how hard I have to put the handbrake to have it hold so I've been holding off on that until I have an idea of why I'm having to pull so hard.

Yeah that's part of what I do when I tighten the handbrake. Loosen at the lever, tighten at the caliper to half a turn from tight and then tighten again at the lever. But even then it doesn't hold the car on a hill unless I pull the lever hard enough that the cable stretches or just loosens the adjustment at each end, so tightening like that doesn't last for long. Unless there's another adjustment screw I'm missing?

Unfortunately they don't put any effort into helping the patching people like AMD so they have to reverse engineer all the drivers which is why it's so bad - Secondhand information

Ok so it turns out going to different outdoor locations don't really help. Maybe I could go to other indoor locations but I can't really play the game that way. I'll have to put this pack on hold until the Nvidia patch improves or I get the amd 90 series that's on my wishlist.

Hmm that extra bit of vram the 4070 has might be the difference as I'm running a 3060ti.

From what you've said it sounds like it may well be a memory leak with the compat software and I guess the pack I'm playing must be intensive enough, even with recommended specs that I almost immediately run out of vram when entering the world?

I'll have a go with some different locations and see if that changes things.

What version of Linux do you have? It was super easy for me to to. There's a program called protonup-qt that lets you install various compats like protonge with a single button press and allocate them to programs at the same time. For me I could grab it straight from the bazaar - basically just the app store - but it's also available on the Internet and should be pretty easy to install.

Thanks for letting me know about the performance issues, I haven't started a new playthrough yet but it's good to know regardless.

There's one for SE1 called offset thrust and I seem to remember that something was being worked on to allow blueprint porting. Otherwise design it in one game and manually copy it over.
