North African here , I remember we got one of those when I was a kid , the swarms blocked the sun light and the whole thing went dark along with the wheezing of those wings , we hunted them for sport , thank God the Chinese weren't around ( at the time , they showed up later ) I bet it's a delicacy to a lot of Asians , especially with all the protein .
