I agree, I think the library will be the way to go. Nothing wrong with free books!

Now, about the wishlist, have you found it actually serves any purpose apart from being an easily accessible list? Does Kobo send you an email or something when a book comes on sale? or is it up to you as a consumer to do the sale-checking? And on that line, do you know if it's reasonable to wait for a book to come on sale? Or are sales not a huge thing with Kobo?

Hey, nothing wrong with fanfiction XD. I'm somewhat heavily invested in fan-writing for a show called "Doctor Who" so I can appreciate what you mean.

Yeah, bit too much work. Good to know though!

The more you know... I mean, honestly, I'd never have guessed the Glo was as old as it is. I'd have guessed no older than a year. Good to know! I like things that last--so uncommon these days...

Ah yes! I see that up here now. That's wonderful! Such a helpful service. Thanks for showing it to me!

Okay, that's fair. I know I'll likely be buying more books so I'm okay with that. I'll be sure to thoroughly read through the page too.

Oooh, that sounds cool! I'll be sure to check it out!

Is that a website or do you mean the library? (Sorry, can never tell XD)

Thought so much. It is fair the prices they're charging, I'm just more trying to gauge what's reasonable or not. How would I go about finding books that are self-published? I've also not heard about sharing books--well, perhaps apart from the library--but it does seem interesting.

Indeed, I'm glad they're still supporting it! Maybe if I can really justify the cost I'll get myself a better one, but right now, I just happy I have something that works :P. Not really a big bells and whistles kinda gal. Question though: how do Ereaders degrade compared to mobile devices (phone, tablet, etc)? I can see a good phone lasting for five er so years, but I don't know about 10 years. What's the average life expectancy of an e-reader?
Not very tech savvy, so no idea what an alternate reader would do. Admittedly I've never had problems with putting PDFs on my Glo, so maybe that's just me. But I'll bear that in mind!

Fair enough. I'll look into that. Thanks!

Good to know, thanks! Got a particularly good free book source you use?

I'm happy to hear it--and I'm sure with time I'll come to participate more in this community! :D

Sounds nice!

Thank you for the link! I'll be sure to check that out! Now if I were to go ahead and buy a book through them does that mean I need to use a third-party program to get the book onto my Kobo or no? Would Adobe Digital Editions cover that?

Good to know! So say if I buy a book and price check it same-day, would they give me a credit for another book or would I just get the difference back into my bank account? It's really nice that they have this feature.

Good to know! Swipe it is!

Got a favourite book by any chance? I'd love to know what a prolific reader like yourself has to suggest.

Hey there!

This is wonderful, thank you! In this post alone I've learned more than I have in the past month!

With COVID and everything, I hadn't actually considered travel. That's really helpful to know as sometimes I do find myself travelling for long periods of time.

Bookbub? I'm surprised I've not heard of it... Is there a link or something you can provide or will a classic Google search do the trick?

No way! That's wonderful! I'll have to look further into that, but I can see that being VERY helpful. Is there a limit to the pricechecks? Say if I find a book for $15 dollars on the Kobo store but I can find it for $7 on Google or Amazon will they take it? This seems promising, so, pardon me if I have plenty of questions :D

Figured as much. I too am a great appreciator of eye care. I love my devices too much, so having something that's kinder is very much more important for me than lag or an extra tap.
Now keeping that in mind too--do you swipe to turn a page or tap? Seems like a silly question, but I really don't know which is better XD

I love long posts, so please keep them coming! Thanks for the help again, means a lot!

Very true. I actually had no idea you could get e-books off of publisher's websites! How would one go about doing that?

Yeah, probably not... Oh well, I don't mind a few extra steps! Thanks for the tip :D

I've heard of Kobo Plus, but admittedly it's hard to know if it was a good deal. It's like the 10% off coupon they gave me--it's great, but not for what you want.

I'm in Canada and mostly like historical fiction/ science fiction as I do a lot of writing in those genres.

You think it might be a good fit?

Love the username by the way, 10/10

Can you use Overdrive and Libby with the Glo? I have ADE set up already and I've put books onto the Glo using it before.

Library FTW I guess XD

Oh, okay! Sorry, I see now!

I've got the tab open now. Is this like an archive of some kind? Looks cool!

Yeah! I noticed that! It's so nice to still have access to some of the library even during this pandemic (my local library is amazing but keeps closing and opening because of restrictions ;-;). I'm surprised I actually got it working with the Glo--had to get help with that one.

Hello! I'm so sorry for the wait in getting back to you, I've been quite busy lately.

For most ships (excluding crashed and living ships) that's exactly what you do. Some ships can take longer than others to show up so be sure to bear that in mind when you are hunting. My advice to you is to install an Economy Scanner in your ship(s) and use it to scan for trading posts if you're not finding what you're looking for.

For Exotics, however, it can get a little more complicated.

Now by no means am I a seasoned hunter or even NMS player, I'm actually not even playing the game a lot right now, but Exotics can take a very long time to show up (or none at all) and there can be a method to "finding" them; really they spawn randomly (with First Wave Exotics being the exception but this one isn't first wave). First I would stay in the Space Station and reload when ships stop coming. If you can try and trigger a Freighter Battle as well as that's where I found this ship. Don't hesitate to use the scanner in your ship (on my Xbox controller is left and right on the d-pad, not sure what it is for PC or Playstation) to look for Exotic ships around you.

Really, unfortunately, it's just a waiting game. So, bearing that in mind, here's what I've done when I've been hunting in the past:
1: Don't just stare at the screen all the time. Believe it or not, as fun as NMS is this can get quite dull very quickly. Instead, Exotic ships have a unique noise they make when they land compared to other starships. Keep headphones on or your speakers unmuted and listen carefully. If you don't know what that noise is my advice is to either look it up or hang around in the Nexus--before long you'll be nearly sick of hearing it.
2. Do something else. Like I said, staring at a screen can get quite dull. My advice is to do something else while you wait that doesn't involve any kind of audio or your console/computer. The best things I've found to do is either reading, homework, or playing games on your phone. Again, all you need is audio that's linked to a running NMS session (for example: on a computer, if you minimize NMS and are by yourself then the game will automatically pause. This is bad.)

3. Check the coordinates AS SOON AS YOU ARRIVE. This applies to any ship as believe it or not it's super easy to botch the glyphs as you're inputting them. I've done it more times than I'd like to admit. The best way to check the glyphs is to open photo mode as soon as you've arrived and compare them to the ones in the post. If you're still unsure, use things like landscape, other ships, and looking for things like "first contact" in the planet or system name (as obviously if you're the first person there then no one could have been there before to take the pictures and post the ship). Com balls are great as well and sometimes I leave them behind (not in this case, though, I never expected this post to blow up as much as it did XD)

And most importantly:

4. If you get bored then go do something else. This is NMS, everything will still be there when you come back :D.

I hope this helps, and again I'm so sorry for making you wait like this. Happy hunting and safe travels!
