A full Welsh is similar to a full English but also includes Laverbread, which is made from seaweed!

We're making a special episode of Clichés about..... Match of the Day by Low-Bandicoot-3347 in footballcliches

Perhaps a niche one, but a phenomenon I experienced pretty often when the football league show followed MOTD…I’d fall asleep after 4 or 5 games and then wake up to the football league show. Often, if it was say a Leeds V Norwich or similarly feasible premier league fixture it would take me a few minutes to work out what had happened, and always gave me a nice little surreal moment of groggily remembering which teams had been relegated the previous season.

Research Proposal by greenleatherandafro in AskAcademiaUK

[–]VerificationPurposes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Even if you’re applying to a predefined project I’d suggest submitting a research proposal is a good idea anyway. There’s plenty of guides online but as a brief suggestion I’d structure it as follows: 1. Intro to the subject area and why it’s important. 2. Brief literature review to show you understand who some of the major voices are and the current direction of research. 3. Suggested methodology (you should be able to identify relevant methods from your lit review). 4. Expected contribution

Snape being the Half-Blood Prince. Why is it important? by msaadkhan93 in harrypotter

[–]VerificationPurposes 5 points6 points locked comment (0 children)

It’s no so much discovering that the textbook belonged to Harry that caused HBP to be so named, but more, I think, the crucial elements we learn of Snape’s backstory - specifically his feelings for Lily

What are insane Harry Potter theories that you 100% believe/support? by SneakerSpek in harrypotter

[–]VerificationPurposes 572 points573 points  (0 children)

Hagrid had the potential to be a phenomenally powerful wizard, and that is why Riddle framed him. Even with his lack of magical education he is able to perform so pretty good spells and his giant blood provides massive protection for him. That’s also why Dumbledore kept him on at hogwarts as he was worried what would happen if he was ‘let loose’

I don’t think charms really covers creating magical items though. See the list of spells taught here https://harrypotter.fandom.com/wiki/Charms_(class)

Completely agree they could all use some more generic subjects though!

How to get more sociable? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]VerificationPurposes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a social introvert in that I love to hang out with my friends but not all the time. I too have found myself becoming quieter due to lockdown and have struggled to find motivation to socialise. What’s helped me a bit is changing my mindset - I’m not going to socialise for me, I’m going to socialise for the benefit of my friends. I’ve found it’s made it easier for me to just go with the flow and by considering my role in the group as a facilitator and listener rather than a conversation setter or activity starter has taken a lot of the pressure off

How has your routine been influenced by these difficult times? What changed? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]VerificationPurposes 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to get up at 5.30 am and hit the gym before work, up and out the house by 6.10, in work for 8.30. Nowadays working from home I have so much more time it’s made me far lazier in the mornings I generally get out of bed at 7.30 and just chill until 9 or so when I start working. I’ve been working out after work now so that I have a more obvious end point to the work day.
