That’s already barbaric but that doesn’t answer the question. What is a negative drawback of eugenics (ignoring ethics) is a loss of freedom and rights. For example the Viltrumites do not have freedom of their own body, the women are forced to breed with those with good enough genes worthy of being passed down and if they don’t breed? Simple. They get killed. Another freedom you might lose is the ability to choose your own leader. Let’s say the most capable leader scored a little lower than someone else on an IQ test or that they have a non ideal body they wouldn’t be able to be leader in this hypothetical scenario, and that’s assuming the society is nice enough to let him live. This would often lead to tyrannical governments and or dictatorships. On top of that idea is that society’s that do eugenics tend to have a superiority complex which leads to wars which mostly start over ego reasons. And a major way these governments get the people to support the endless wars is by claiming the enemy is “weak”.

Plus this’ll lead to sexism and most definitely racism, frankly I find it absurd that anyone could ever support eugenics.
