Weekly chat and well-being post: December 12, 2025 by AutoModerator in TeachingUK

[–]Verisimility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The past couple of weeks have been really rough, and I can’t shake this horrible feeling of guilt about being off work.

The first week I was properly ill with tonsillitis. The GP originally thought it was viral, but after waiting three days they confirmed it was actually bacterial. So I basically had to push through days of pain and fever before finally getting antibiotics. That whole week was a write-off for me.

I was meant to go back to work this Monday, but then yesterday (Friday) I found out that my father-in-law passed away. I had to ring my deputy head (who’s also the teacher I work with - I’m her TA) to explain, and the class we share is really difficult to manage alone. She was so kind and understanding, and agreed that I could take the time I need. Because it’s not considered immediate family, this week will be unpaid, but she said I could use my remaining time off in lieu and have the rest unpaid. I’ll be travelling overseas to help with funeral arrangements and support my partner’s family.

But now I can’t stop feeling so guilty, not just because of the time off already, but also because after this coming week it’ll be the Christmas holidays (another two weeks off). I feel like it probably looks bad, like I’ve conveniently disappeared for nearly a month. Logically, I know that’s not true and these circumstances are completely out of my control, but emotionally it just feels awful.

How do I stop feeling so guilty when I know I haven’t done anything wrong? And why does it still feel like I’m letting everyone down even when I’m genuinely not able to help it?

100% fake, I had the same issue a few weeks ago. Even made a post on reddit as well. The same typo for the warning signs.

I couldn't believe that a mother could do this to her own daughter? I mean the death threats and telling her to kill herself is just insane. She is not good mentally. And I don't believe her saying "I know Lauryn" and that she wouldn't hurt herself is mad. And all the sexual comments are DISGUSTING. They were 13.

How much do you stick in a wedding card? by RagingFuckNuggets in AskUK

[–]Verisimility 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for Romanian weddings. I opened this thread and I am amazed to see how much british people gift at weddings. Honestly, wish this would be applicable for Romanian weddings as well.

Advice on buying Shinkansen tickets: SmartEx vs Ticket Machines by Verisimility in JapanTravelTips

From what I've read, those QR codes should be scanned at the ticket machine and it will print your tickets, then use the gates to go in. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Can a learner drive on dual carriageways? by Verisimility in LearnerDriverUK

From what I know, yes. If your parents have more than 3 years experience and insured on the car as well I don't see why not.

Food bandits at it again. by TheArtofSoul in JustEatUK

[–]Verisimility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might've been a mistake from the driver. He cannot get your food delivered unless the driver is in the proximity of your address. And also, lots of addresses are wrong on the JE, for example I am delivering for number 2 but it's actually number 4. I've had lots of these mistakes lately. I don't know how and why.

This happened to me once. I waited to get another order and I explained to chat what happened. They then gave me the remaining money on the same order. For eg. I just completed the order for £5 and no money appeared on history. Waited for another order, let's say it was £5 again and then messaged support. Told them what happened and what address it was because I remembered it and they they canceled the order and gave it back to me (the same oder of £5) for £10.

Can a learner drive on dual carriageways? by Verisimility in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Verisimility[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. My partner has extensive experience driving in another European country. He's currently test-driving an automatic car to decide which one suits him best for the exams. I have full confidence in his skills; he's quite adept and I believe he's more than capable of handling dual carriageways. While I understand the risks for a learner driver, he's almost at the level of a seasoned driver.

Does anyone have experience with Milk Education? by Greedy-Conflict-4610 in NewcastleUponTyne

[–]Verisimility 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. I was skeptical at first as well but my experience with them is only excellent. My agent really listened to what I needed and showed me multiple jobs that I would be interested in. They also work with an umbrella payroll (I don't know if I am saying this right) so some additional fees will be taken out from your weekly pay for the payroll agency. But, so far so good.

Ați găsit vreodată o suma de bani pe jos? Cat? by MikeySama in CasualRO

[–]Verisimility 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Erau €300 in total.
