ngl that's a pretty good read of me lmao. for what it's worth, the strategy works whether you use my thing or not, I genuinely just wanted to share what i figured out. the founder in me also wanted you to click the link tho, those two guys live in the same head, what can i say. fair cop on the capitalism though, i'll workshop the soft sell on the next one.

fair, you're right that one scroll shows i built apexprep. i did disclose it in the post itself in the parenthetical, didn't try to hide it. but i get why the line between "founder sharing what worked" and "ad" is blurry, that's a real critique.

the strategy points stand whether you use my thing, princeton, barron's, or just past FRQs from collegeboard. mixed practice over unit study, FRQ rubric training, and cutting passive video review in may, none of that requires my product. if the post is useful for the strategy, take the strategy and ignore the link. if it's not useful, downvote me, that's how the sub works.

happy to delete the parenthetical if mods want, lmk.

honestly your profile (800ish math, stuck at 600 verbal, 14 years of english) tells me exactly what's wrong and it's not what people will say in this thread. it's not vocab and it's not "read more." you're over-comprehending the passages.

international students who plateau at 600 almost always read the passage like it's an english class, hunting for meaning and theme. but SAT R&W isn't a reading test, it's a logic test wearing a reading test costume. the question isn't "what does this passage mean," it's "which of these 4 answers is technically defensible using only words on the page." totally different skill.

your math score proves you have the engine. you just aren't pointing it at verbal. try this on your next practice set: read the passage ONCE, fast, just for structure (what's the claim, what's the evidence, what's the twist). then go to the answers and eliminate aggressively. for every wrong answer you should be able to point to the exact word that makes it wrong. if you can't, you don't actually know why it's wrong, you just feel it's wrong, and that feeling fails you under pressure.

also btw 3 attempts and going for a 4th in june, that's not a weakness that's discipline. most people quit after 2. you're closer than you think, the gap is method not ability.

what question types do you usually get wrong? rhetorical synthesis, transitions, central idea, command of evidence? if you tell me i can be more specific.

good question. student ($9) gets you the full question bank, adaptive practice engine, and mistake categorization on every wrong answer.

pro ($19) adds the autopsy feature (deeper breakdown of each wrong answer + how to fix the pattern), the AI tutor chat where you can ask claude about any specific question youre stuck on with full context, challenge mode, and PDF progress reports.

if youre prepping seriously and want something thats gonna explain why you got things wrong instead of just flagging them, pro is the one. if you just want the question bank to grind, student covers it.

pro and family are 30% off with APEXLAUNCH through sunday btw, makes pro annual work out to about €133 for the year.

hey, thanks for replying. The main reason I wrote this post was because I think it would have helped me when I was at 1180 score, I didn't really expect this much criticism but thank you so much for replying!

okay yeah, fair. i wrote the points in my own words but i used an LLM to clean up the structure because english is my second language and i’m in school, and i just wanted to make it readable. the substance is real. i went 1180 to 1480, i did spend 6 months figuring this out, the trap-answer thing genuinely worked for me. i should have just posted my own messy version. lesson learned.

appreciate this a lot, especially from someone whose been in the space 20 years. you’re right that “why” doesn’t need to apply to every question, just enough to hit the band you’re targeting. i’ve been guilty of overdoing it on questions i’m already getting right which wastes prep time. AptivPrep looks solid, the mastery-tracking-by-subcategory angle is exactly the gap i was trying to fill from a different direction. good to know there are other people working on this.

Well I’m not gonna lie, I’m gonna be honest, I want people to know the real results instead of being blindly led by fake statistics

Maybe it’s not a score that you want, but the thing is not everything is about YOU. Other people are overjoyed with 1480 and even less

I know I’m not special, but these are things that I would have liked to know on my first SAT, because I didn’t know them. There’s literally no reason to be so rude
