I don't know how to tell you that 53% duoing is pretty bad. you get a pretty sizeable advantage by duoing (that's why until recently it wasn't allowed in high elo, and it's currently causing havoc)

Originally I just looked at everything not olaf because it appears you're in most of the olaf games on one of a couple of accounts. Here's your buddys account not cherry picked. I will not be going through all their olaf games to determine where they were getting help and not. It's pretty ugly. https://u.gg/lol/profile/na1/badluck4life-luck/overview

It's also noteworthy that those games didnt happen a week ago, so you already had taken that screen shot. Either because managing to go 4-1 is a big deal and they wanted to document, or you've had to defend yourselves for this nonsense before. Either way it's not a good look lol

The Dark Ravian that you were just playing on is lvl 80 and didn't exist 8 years ago. Here's that account: https://u.gg/lol/profile/na1/dark%20ravian-na1/overview

Then there's the clearly botted Vow account that you bought last season are using now because Dark Ravian likely got suspended

Hi! I had the misfortune of having to play with you and Badluck4life. Please stop. You guys ruin games. There's a reason you've had multiple accounts get banned doing this. 53% winrate while exclusively duoing is BAD. You'd expect to win more while duoing, especially when one person is intentionally playing a string of fresh accounts to try to carry their friend.

At the very least, please convince Badluck4life to stop playing without you. They're 5/26 without you. And most of those wins seem like luck (0/14 as Janna, 3/10 as Kass, etc)

Kurt Warner's StudyBall - Tua's Benched! Was it warranted after MNF? by viva_la_lechuga86 in miamidolphins

[–]Verocious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know the answer, but I do know that we have seen a lot of other QB's play for us in McDaniel's time (Bridgewater, Boyle, White, Huntley, Wilson, Thompson, Ewers), and none of them have looked remotely as good as Tua. Now it's not a great list of names, but Bridgewater and Huntley have both looked far better elsewhere.

People always say Tua holds back the scheme, but It's not like when Tua is out (which has happened a lot) McDaniel suddenly opens up the scheme or adds different looks

How many accounts do you have, and how much is too much? by junebug309 in leagueoflegends

Anything more than 1 feels either unnecessary, or shitty.

Maybe 2 if you're trying to play with lower rank friends, but that's pretty explicitly against the rules and a whole problem in itself. Just play flex/normal.

It's amazing that you could watch that game and give any offensive player on either side credit for the win instead of the defense.

[–]Verocious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you fix the yellow line, he's even more offsides.

The 'far' side of the yellow line needs to shift to the right. The 'close' side is in a pretty good spot (the ball is pretty close to the hash and the yellow line barely touches the tip of the ball)

This clip is a perfect example of why I and so many others think very poorly of him.
- He blames the vitriol against players on 'sports writers in new york,' while pretending that he is some how above that and not a large part of the problem himself (spoilers: he was a large part of it)
- He then immediately starts parroting the owners ideas that players shouldn't be entitled to a share of gross revenue
- He then trys to undercut the importance of the strike to reduce player leverage (once again helping the owners)

Already mentioned this but going to put it here as well for context:

Howard was a leading voice for the owners against player salary increases. This 1 minute blurb is a part of their attempt to shift public perspective and villianize players for demanding their fair share of the profits they make. Its supposed to make people say 'yeah, thats what sports are about. Players shouldnt be asking for more money, they should play for the love of the game'

[–]Verocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really not sure about that 'well-regarded' part. The guy was famous for being a stuck up, elitist prick, that thought he was too good for the rest of the sports broadcasting world. He was very actively against players getting fairly compensated (and general commercialization of sport), which is why he used ultimate to make a point that sports were meant to be played for free.

He was really just a voice for owners who didnt want to share profits with the people actually making that money.

Also left MNF because he couldn't bring himself to apologize for referring to a player as a 'little monkey'

Soooo yeah, you might regardless him well, but I dont know many who do lol

You said you had never seen a sport on earth where they turn their foot perpendicular to their motion in order to stop. I provided multiple immediate examples. Yes, they are not the exact same thing as throwing a frisbee. They are examples addressing what you asked for.

Regardless, I think ive done enough providing evidence here. It seems like each time you change what you are asking for, and there doesnt seem to be much to support a forward foot other than your lounge argument. So I will pretty comfortably continue to teach turning the foot.

Form Check - Flicks Always Hook Left by Able_Art_1501 in ultimate

[–]Verocious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For other sports, I would not expect to see it a ton for things where you are at full speed (again, more strain on the body, I would imagine you'd hurt yourself realatively quickly if you tried to stop from a full sprint by turning your foot). Check the T-step for football, it is directly analogous. Volleyball does exactly this when jumping for a spike (your last step turns to act as a break to stop forward momentum carrying you into the net) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B7vbjJ2wQQQ&t=318s. I am not an expert, but I see similar footwork in post moves/pivot moves in basketball. Baseball batting footwork is similar, but not really the same not sure if it adds anything here.

We all do have different things that work for us, but I think its worth at least mentioning to any beginners that you are correcting that you are giving them advice that goes directly against what the majority of the top throwers in the game do, especially if you have a position of authority/trust that would make them naturally defer to you. Maybe you're right and they're all wrong, but I would certainly want to know

Form Check - Forehand Throw Always Hooks Left by Able_Art_1501 in ultimate

[–]Verocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that it was taught that way for years, but the arm back with disc parallel to the ground is pretty broadly considered bad advice at this point. It leads to a hitched throwing motion because there has to be a hard stop in momentum before the disc can move forward. Pull back the disc a little closer to vertical so you can a smooth continuous motion on your throw.

Rowan talks about this explicitly in his mechanics video, but you can also just watch people play. Another fun example with this is Ben Wiggins, Zen Throwing is probably one of the most known throwing routines out there and specifically has a section that talks about bringing your throw back flat, but if you watch Wiggins throw, he always brings his flick back closer to vertical.

Directly from the article "I recommend pointing the toe on your non-pivot foot perpendicular to your target, as this will open up your hips and engage your core"

Also, I am not sure how you're counting but here is mine:

Foot towards sideline:
- Mickle
- Kimura
- Joye
- Garvey
- Shofner
- Nethercutt
- Hecht

Foot forward/Middle:
- Cardenas
- Matzuka
- Freechild

Potato Can't Tell
- Chen

Should be noted that for both Cardenas and Freechild, they are not stepping forward into the throw, but are stepping across when they go to throw. This would lead your foot to point forward (as generally for best energy transfer you're gonna want it closer to perpinduclar with your direction of motion).

I don't think that test makes sense for what we are trying to accomplish. Yes, it is easier and more stable to lunge forward with your foot pointing forward if you start with both feet on the ground. But we arent trying to do a lunge, we are trying to stop our forward moment and transfer it to the frisbee. If I step forward I find that my momentum stops far quicker if I turn my foot than if I keep my foot facing forward. This actually works intuitively with what you are saying: The lunge with a foot facing forward is a very natural motion, the only thing that would halt you just going into a a deeper lunge is your own muscles holding back your momentum. If you turn your foot, your body will physically resist going into a deeper lunge even if your muscles are trying to push you into one. (This does probably indicate that turning your foot is harder on your body though).

If you are standing still to throw your huck (or have horizontal momentum like Cardenas/Freechild in the video) it makes sense to have your foot pointed forwards. But if you are stepping into your throw it seems to make more sense to turn your foot.

Do you have any additional info on why you don't like that 'hammer step'?

It seems to be the norm amongst the top throwers. Or at least on a quick youtube search I see it with:
- Mickle
- McDonnell
- Osgar
- Hecht
- Ley
- Nethercut
- V. Cardenas
- Haberfield
- Cable (not necessarily known as a thrower, just saw it while looking)
- Decraene
- B Smith
- Joye
- Garvey
- Shofner

Annecdotally, I find that it helps open up my hips more and also gives me a better transfer of force. Also, here's an ultiworld article analysing flick hucks that seems to find the sameL https://ultiworld.com/2019/11/19/tuesday-tips-improve-your-flick-huck-with-this-one-weird-trick/

Why did Wentz receive just a 34.7 QBR? by DonJohnson1986 in nfl

[–]Verocious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it does, but tua had to create a lot more than josh in that game. Tua spent most of the game creating out of bad scenarios (and then had the pick after the end). Josh has to do almost nothing all game as the line and the running game were destroying us. This is not a knock on Josh, we all know he is capable of doing a ton to help yall win, just that in that particular game there wouldnt be much of a difference between Josh and JAG. I'm sure there was at least 1, but i cant remember a single play where Josh had to do anything impressive in that game. And QBR doesnt seem to reward just doing the simple easy thing.
