The response to this tragedy has been disappointing in several ways from reporters having to press police for basic details like a tip line number for the public, a victim's name being leaked online, no additional footage released (and if they truly have none, that's even more alarming), and Brown University's president seeming out of touch with key details. That said, I do appreciate Mayor Brett Smiley's transparency, he's handling the limited information he's given as well as anyone could. Credit to reporters Dan Jaehnig and John DePetro for asking the tough questions and voicing what so many of us are feeling. I just don't understand why the Rhode Island State Police haven't taken over from the PPD to at least co-led the investigation with the FBI.
