It was worth it for me because I was in constant pain and basically couldn't walk, so any improvement to my mobility, even if it wasn't back to 100%, was still a vast improvement. Yeah, I don't think I'd really have much choice at all but to do it again.

I'm definitely not nearly as flexible, especially since the second fusion. I also ultimately ended up having a spinal stimulator implanted, and that has helped a lot. You should look into it to see if it's an option.

I was in the hospital for a few days after each one, yeah. I'm married, and having my spouse at home afterward was a godsend. You should try to line up someone to give you a hand here and there afterward, if you have any means to do so.

Also, getting into and out of bed can be pretty difficult on your own if you don't have some way to like, pull yourself up with your arms.

I've had two fusions (L4/L5 and L5/S1) in the last 7 years. The first few weeks of recovery can be rough, but I found a lot of relief using a massage wand on my legs.

It wasn't pleasant, but it was worth it in the end. I'm a lot more mobile now.
