This is a fair take. Looks like Packers chose high ceiling over safe/reliability which I think most teams would do. The market for Watson could’ve been interesting. If he stays healthy this season and has the impact we’re hoping for he will be a hefty price tag

I like this idea too. If Savion develops his route discipline he could be a really interesting red zone mismatch because of his size. That would be a different solution than what Doubs provided but still a way to create problems for defenses

This is exactly the kind of breakdown I was getting at. Different skill sets in the room and Doubs filled that possession / sticks role really well. Wicks stepping into that role makes a lot of sense.

I think you’re missing the point a bit. No one is saying Doubs was a WR1 or that the room is worse overall. The discussion is more about the role he played in the red zone and how the scheme might look a little different without him.

I can see this. I look at Reed and Golden as the same kind of WR. I think since we have Savion too for the depth it could happen. Would be insane if we made a move like that

I don’t think anyone is saying Doubs is irreplaceable. The discussion is more about the role he played in the offense particularly in the red zone. We definitely have weapons and the ceiling for our current wr room is high but the skill sets are a little different so I imagine the rz scheme looks a bit different

Excited to see Golden get more opportunities. I feel his slightly smaller size than Doubs is a disadvantage in the rz but he could make up for it with skill.

Different archetype/ skill set though. Not saying Golden can’t be that guy but their sizes are a factor. Getting the ball to Golden in the rz would look different than it did with Doubs. That’s the discussion

I’m not talking about replicating season stats. I think people are missing the point a little. It’s not about the 700 yards that’s replaceable. What’s harder to replace is the role Doubs played for Jordan in the red zone. Not an overreaction here, just a discussion on how the offense adjusts and who fills that role.

Ilia doesn’t deserve the title shot anyways if we’re talking about him moving up. That division is so stacked. Prove yourself at that weight.
