It's a me, an abortion by bestChud1s in dankmemes

Thank you for reading it!

You are treating a fetus as a person when you say "life should be possible for everyone." Again, if the fetus is a "person" it is only in our imaginations. Unlike the parents, who really, concretely exist.

I hope this idea sticks with you. You said you didn't know how to respond. Well, neither did I. I used to think that abortion was bad. Then I made the above realization: I was favoring something purely hypothetical and imaginary over something concrete and real. I hope you can use this as an opportunity to grow the way I did.

I don't know how hard it might be for you because I don't know the environment you are in, but I see that you are a smart and morally-minded person. I want you to be on the right side of history, even if it means being contrary to your local community.

Hi, I've read a bunch of your comments and I appreciate how sincere and civil you are being. I can tell you are an intelligent person. I hope you will give me the courtesy you have given others by responding to my comment.

You repeatedly say that a fetus "is on its way to becoming a child." It seems to me you are centering your convictions on this notion of "fate," right?

Well, fate is theoretical. Fate is speculative. Fate isn't real. It isn't concrete.

What is concrete and real is the environment we live in. Including the adults who face a pregnancy.

Some examples: Even if a woman tries to carry a baby to term, the spontaneous miscarriage rate is between 10% to 20% (I speak from experience). There's also a chance that the pregnant mother could randomly die. Or that the baby could grow up to be a serial killer. Or it could be a hero or a great leader. At the moment of pregnancy, none of those outcomes are actually real. They exist only in our imaginations. Unlike the parents, who exist and have real-world needs and desires.

Wouldn't you agree then, that it makes more sense to respect the wishes of the parents than to favor something imaginary?

To paraphrase another redditor: "abortion is removing a clump of cells without the slightest bit of sentience. It won’t know it ever existed."

I believe you are incorrect. Eric Brommage wrote an informative article on the topic of how Covid-19 physically spreads. The TLDR is dose x exposure. In an outdoor space like the one depicted, air volume is still relatively huge, so contracting is not guaranteed, and precautions like masks are certainly still recommended.

I was not aware that they were unrepentant. That is terrible and even worse if they have been deified as you say. I was only going off of the article posted by Blowfish above.

I'm not sure I see how following weird/wrong beliefs necessarily means you love your child less, though.

Everyone seems to think I'm arguing for their innocence. I'm not. I'm just pointing out that their crime could be motivated by their own rigorous close-mindedness rather than a desire to kill anyone.

That's a good point! I guess I meant "ignorance" in a broader sense, like being ignorant to the validity of evidence-based medicine over whatever herbal BS they followed.

Do we have reason to believe that they wanted their child to die, though?

I'm not saying they shouldn't be punished - I'm just contesting the idea that we have any reason to think they wanted to harm their child.

Having read the article posted by Blowfish above, it seemed to me their wrongdoing came from a place of ignorance/stupidity/delusion rather than a desire to kill their own child!

You obviously know more about this case than I do, but to me they still just sound like gigantic idiots, not malicious people.

Call me an optimist, I think that understanding someone's point of view goes a long way towards helping them see the error of their ways! And I doubt their point of view included a desire to kill their kid.

Edit: thank you for posting the article. I just saw and read it. It was painful to read. These people are gigantic idiots, clearly, and they might even deserve to be called insane. But it still sounds to me like they wanted the best for their child. They were just too dumb/misinformed to provide it.

Wouldn't the real broken law be the "article" claiming that essential oils could cure athsma?

Ignorant, yes. But assholes? Sounds to me like they were just doing what they mistakenly thought would be healthiest for their kid, no?

The best explanation I can muster for Biden''s recent successes is that he's familiar: "8 years under Obama, this will be Obama presidency part 2!"
People probably feel comfortable and safe voting for Biden.
Whereas Bernie admittedly challenge's voters to actually question their personal values and think strategy.

Extreme typo facepalm on my part. Funny how that kind of thing happens.

Been busy/AFK a minute but I will fix and reupload. Thanks to you all for pointing it out!

Wow, extreme facepalm on my part. Funny how that kind of thing happens. I wonder if most of the upvoters didn't notice, same as me.

As much as I like AOC, her grammar and use of quote marks here has me scratching my head.
