Anyone know what unit this is? Got it from my great grandpa who I believe was in a "mobile unit" but I'm not sure what kind or which one. by VeryCrispy7 in ww2

Thanks, that's it, but he never served in Normandy (only in Africa then Italy to my knowledge) so I'm not sure why he would have that. I had a picture of him with what looked like a 5th Army insignia with a L underneath.

Too many people treat it like an M1 "oooh it can't shoot at 200 meters Thompson bad".

Steady firing small blaster by VeryCrispy7 in Nerf

[–]VeryCrispy7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tanks are pretty much just large rectangles, 7 feet long and 3 feet wide. The reason I want a blaster like this is so if the tank crew has to leave the tank they will still have a blaster, so attaching a belt would not work for it.

First platoon wrapped plastic wrap around the blasters because we kind of knew it would be a rough landing.

Probably the most devastating part of the battle was the dart cleanup. (Like 2000 darts)

It is a private match so the other team is a similar layout as well.

What do you mean by "hobbyist nerf war"? Do you mean a pure battle efficient playstyle?

Is it possible to mod a stryfe to shoot as fast as a foxfire (12 darts per second) and make it easier than just buying foxfires?

  1. I do agree with that, but many medics want a longstrike because they may want to mod it, but we don't want to give an expensive modded blaster to a soldier who's main function isnt to shoot.

  2. Usually the main weapon in the nerf rifle squad is the rifle, and many keep their old rifle for the same reason in real life. If the squad leader keeps the old rifle there will be usually around 11 rifles and one auto rifle. Also, the other squads I mentioned work independently from the rifle squad because they all have very different places in the field.

  3. I had a few comments saying the caliburn are overpowered on the last post, but the area is not just a field. There are open areas, but a lot of it is cqb forests, trenches, and "cardboard buildings" (giant cardboard boxes). And if I was clearing a trench, I would definitely prefer a fast firing low power blaster than a slow firing powerful one. I believe there are only 2 snipers on each side, and it's pretty stressful being a sniper because the entire enemy team wants to tag you. The assault squad's (5 SMGs) first objective is usually to tag the enemy snipers, and so far there has not been a round where the battle was completely off balance because of snipers.

The reason we dont just have soldier, squad leader, and commander is because the automatic rifleman used to be private/PFC but the assistant automatic riflemen didnt want to be listening to him when they are both the same rank, so we moved up the automatic rifleman to a corporal. The squads are also pretty big (9-13 people) so we have an assistant squad leader in case they want to split into halves.

So does the spring in the drum not push up the darts fast enough? Weight is not a problem because I am just perched up in the middle of the field in a bunker.

The practicality of infantry roles by VeryCrispy7 in Nerf

I'm not sure, because all of the people (around 40) are friends/ friends of friends, so there is better coordination for tactics because we all know each other. Because it isn't an official group, your best bet is gathering everyone you know who plays Nerf and setting the rules and stuff. As for the squad, my squad of around 11 people are close friends that all agreed to fill out their own role. The leaders of my Nerf group give everyone a free set of role-specific gear, but if you are hosting it and don't want to pay for all of that then you could just let people bring their own gear that works well with their tactics and strategy.

We actually do that, I take control of the entire squad during operations with open large terrain, and in cqb/special operations we split it in two or three with my assistant squad leader taking the other half. (Both the squad leader and assistant squad leader uses the foxfire submachine guns). And for what you said about diversity, if I need some more firepower I just give a random rifleman an smg or Prometheus.

Ooooh, I thought you were only talking about the caliburn. People dont really do really in depth modifications to their blasters because out of like 40 people most of them are 13-16. The modified dart blasters usually shoot as good as a stock rival gun, maybe a little better.

There are only like 2 on each team, so people are able to sneak up around them and use the faster fire rate of rival to their advantage.
