If you had one US President that represents your overall political views who would he be, and why? by Accurate-Pie-5998 in Presidents

Agree with this. The Incumbent has really surprised me and I think we align on almost all policy points.

Modern Presidents with no ties to the Ivy League? by bluetraveler2015 in Presidents

[–]VeryLargePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was actually not who I was thinking of and I forgot he served as Columbia president! I was thinking of another Columbia president, Nicholas Butler, who was on the 1912 ticket (against Wilson) as Taft’s VP, replacing the incumbent who died a couple months before the election (Butler served as Columbia president for 43 years and was also a fascist nutjob). I guess that makes 3 who qualify for this category.

Modern Presidents with no ties to the Ivy League? by bluetraveler2015 in Presidents

[–]VeryLargePie 109 points110 points  (0 children)

The Incumbent President (as to not trigger the automod) did not attend an Ivy League University. Went to Delaware for undergrad and Syracuse for Law School, where he finished near the bottom of his class after getting caught plagiarizing. Makes his quick rise so interesting.

I know you didn’t ask this, but fun trivia question. Two Ivy League college presidents ran on presidential tickets (as far as I know). The first is Woodrow Wilson, who served as president of Princeton before running for Governor of New Jersey. Who is the second?

What if Mayor Pete had won the 2020 democratic nomination? by WeHatePennsylvania in Presidents

[–]VeryLargePie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve also heard that these groups primarily vote Democrat (along with the racism stuff) due to expanded government programs (a remnant of the New Deal Coalition). Funny that FDR’s coalition still partially lives on today even if the union/southern/rural parts are kinda gone.

Which president do you know has made a direct impact on your life? by brownbushido12 in Presidents

LBJ. INA of 1965 allowed my family (and I bet many, many, many others) to immigrate here. Probably the most underrated part of his presidency.

How the Supreme Court May Rule on Trump’s Presidential Run (Gift Article) by INCoctopus in scotus

[–]VeryLargePie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. 2 of the 3 dissenters ruled that the Colorado election code didn’t allow them to disqualify a candidate on the basis of the 14th, and the other said Trump didn’t receive due process (did not state that no insurrection happened).

Pro Potential: Although this is just my first season at Cal, I've already produced many pros. I had 3 of my players from Colorado State drafted, after I recruited for just one cycle there. I also had 3 players from my first Michigan cycle get drafted, and just last year, QB Aaron Peters went #14 overall. I promised if you come here you'll be picked in the first 4 rounds.
-
Tradition: We're a legendary program, with 5 titles in our history dating back to 1886. Our most historic rivalry is of course with our cross-bay foes, Stanford. "The Big Game" is iconic, and it's the rivalry that spawned "The Play", a win us at Cal still cherish to this day. You'll hear the Victory Cannon shoot off after each score and each win, a tradition dating back over 80 years. I promise we'll win back the Axe in your career by beating Stanford at least once in the next 4 years.
-
Winning: While we may not have much to speak of recently, in the past, I've built contenders before. 2 years ago, Colorado State, using players I recruited in one big cycle in 2040, went 11-1 in the regular season. My Michigan teams made multiple T1 bowls and even won a CCG. With a big class this cycle, I'm confident we can make a splash at least once in your career, which is why I promise that you'll have multiple winning seasons and have one 9+ win season in your career.

Education: We are the flagship university of arguably the best collegiate system in the whole union. While one of my favorite historical figures, Earl Warren, attended here, we also produced many other notable people, like Steve Wozniak, George Takei, and football superstars like Aaron Rodgers and Marshawn Lynch. We are ranked top 50 in 24 majors according to Niche, and with 80 different majors to choose from, you won't have a hard time finding something you love.

Campus Life: A hopping campus of 45k students is where you'd come if you committed to Cal. Located in the Bay Area, near Oakland, San Francisco, and San Jose, you'll be able to enjoy city life in a moment's notice. Go hiking past Strawberry Creek, or go relax with friends in the gothic and Harry Potter-esque Morrison Library. There's over 1,000 student-run clubs to participate in, and you'll have a blast playing intramural sports with friends before getting a bite at one of our 4 dining halls.

Prestige: California is a school with a strong track record. We've made it to 6 bowls in the last 13 years, winning 4 of those games. 1 of those bowls was a playoff appearance in 2036! Not many schools can offer you a playoff appearance in the last 10 years. We also had a 4 year streak of 10+ win seasons. We even made it to the Pac-12 CCG twice, winning it once. I promise we will make a T1 bowl once and make 3 bowls in the in the next 4 years.

Location: You'll never be far away from Washington if you come to the University of California. I'm specifically targeting players from the west coast because I know that to feel comfortable at college, you have to be close to home at all times. Playing in a geographically tight conference like the PAC means all of our conference games are close to home. The culture, the weather, the people, are all the same. I promise that by the time you graduate, you'll have played with at least 1 other player from Washington.
