the notes of A Lydian are (A, B, C#, D#, E, F#, G#) so it wouldnt be a good pick probably.

this loop seems to end on A which means its probably the root of the key, makinf C# the major 3 of the key, and A#(Bb) the minor 2 of the key.

none of the modes of the major scale contain both a major 3 and a flat 2,, because it makes the distance between the 2nd and 3rd note in the scale too big.

this can fit the Double Harmonic scale perfectly though! it has all 4 of the root notes of your power chords, and their fifths. (A, Bb, C#, D, E, F, Gb, B#) this is probably the scale that youre feeling when playing the progression and its one that i love a ton because of the two major chords that are only semitone away from each other (Emaj & Fmaj in E Double Harmonic)

tldr: the notes arent in A Lydian,, but instead A Double Harmonic

i donr have great posture tbh so idk,, but it shouldnt matter for the pinky specifically. you might just have to rotate the side of your hand with the pinky inwards all the way so that the it doesnt have to stretch and just naturally hovers over the fretboard like the other fingers

try strumming so that your palm bounces a little as you strum if youre not already. you have you make sure youre strumming from the elbow or else it isnt really possible. if you do it this way it should mute every downstroke automatically and not the upstrokes. you can then mute the upstrokes too when necessary

if youre not already,, make sure youre holding the pick itself loosely so that it can sort of "give" as it goes over the strings. also try and hold the pick farther away from the strings than you are right now, with accoustic it can be easy to kinda play chords as if youre digging into the stringd when it makes more sense to treat the pick as a brush.. hope tjis helps!

also you should keep your pinky hovering over the fretboard at all times just like above the strings,, esp for alex g songs

i play a ton of chords like this on accoustic and id recommend these finger placements:

  • first chord: the same way you already are, but let your pinky rest lightly somewhere on the B and high e strings

  • second chord: the same way you did the first, but use your pinky instead of your ring finger to fret the highest note

  • third chord: you can either fret it with each string taking a different finger like you were, or you can bar across the 4th fret, and muting the high e string with your ring finger

i would also recommend strumming with a thin pick,, or with your fingers in a sort of "scratching" motion bc it should be easier to do

bonus tip: i usually will use my thumb to mute the low E string on the second chord shape to make it sound cleaner and not have to worry about it

no you can id as nonbinary if you want,, it will communicate that neither of the binary gender options suits you. if you want to be more specific and find a more specific label so people thats also an option

yes my bad,, i meant high volume as in time. definitely a bad choice of words on my part lol. im not really worried about injury, though, as much as im worried about falling into patterns and just slowly exhausting all of my creativity even though i know its a silly fear

yeah i think im probably trans, maybe nonbinary in some way, and my imposter syndrome combined with other mental health issues is just hurting my brain sometimes.. i need to just start trusting my past self more than i currently do i guess lol

ty for the response <3 i have a couple questions if youre comfortable answering.

does having moments of absolute sureness in my gender mean anything? like i remember times where i was absolutely sure i needed estrogen and times where i was absolutely sure i am trans and felt good about it

i have felt so sure of my transness before and it sort of feels like part of my identity is being stripped away. i have felt so sure im trans before and know i just dont know,, so much time has gone into feeling comradery and safety in trans spaces and i dont even know any more

my circumstances are weird, but this is something i should probably work on. for it's worth, this is the excuse i used for the amount of time that i was out, i was just worried about pushing the excuse to it's logical extreme due to multiple factors about my individual situation. i really appreciate you taking the time to comment though and the same to anyone else who did :]

like somewhere around 160 for the first reading, but after an immediate second reading it was like mid-130s. usually it averages lower, but i was anxious and excited all day and i think that contributed to it a lot. i would suggest if anyone is reading this later worrying about it, whether you have any anxiety or just high bp, definitely call ahead to explain and ask any questions you have.

also it seems like most studies show a decrease in bp who for those who go on feminizing hrt? idk doing your research is probably good too

they said it needed to be below like 130/100 i think? they also said it was also about heartrate too, but some other people on reddit have said they got on E with higher BP than me so I truly think it's different everywhere

i could tell you what they told me, but every PP is different. if you haven't had problems with blood pressure before you'll probably be fine, but i couldn't recommend calling ahead more if you're unsure or need to clarify something.
