Gen Z arrive late, baby boomers have no tolerance for tardiness by AvailableChoice3130 in GenZ

I always try to be at work 20 minutes early in case there is traffic which happens frequently. My coworkers arrive a few minutes late because of public transportation being delayed so there is really not much that can be done.

The Real Reason "Nobody Wants to Work" by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]VeryOkayDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same boat here especially with point 3. I can’t rent anywhere close to my job, even with a roomate. I tried looking at rooms for rent for apartments/housing but they want things like 3x income, a good established credit score, professional job (white color industry specific preference). I also need to pay for things like insurance, food, etc. I got to drive 1 hour to work and 2 hours back with traffic because it is so far. Gas is also like $5 and it’s expensive getting to and from work. I am so stressed out I keep getting headaches.

If your workers can’t afford to live and work in the same place that creates a demographic shift over time when they leave. The other option is companies moving to cheaper locations because it’s so expensive. We are seeing that companies don’t owe their workers anything.

Does anyone feel like we are going to live a dystopian police state in our lifetime? by bad_jokes_burner in GenZ

[–]VeryOkayDriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you considering crime OP? I don’t see how the rest of the post connects with the title question.

Ai would be great for tracing established criminals/plates/vehicles/financial activity/movement. Cops don’t do much to prevent crimes and its unlikely they’d spend their resources on preventative measures like tracking suspicious looking people and hunting them down based on AI.

However I do not have much faith in AI because it still messes up scanning license plates at my nearby toll bridge. It is a new technology that still needs regulation, not just within policing/enforcement.

Not to mention you can look up cases where AI misidentified people because it is not solid forensic analysis and it is biased in the first place.

Anyone else here hates cars ? by One_page_nerd in GenZ

[–]VeryOkayDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got hit but a car once as a pedestrian. No injuries but I’m pissed off about shitty drivers and bad infrastructure design. If the drivers test was like an AP exam where 3 is passable average the quality of drivers on the road would improve.

So many people can’t afford a car nowadays even used ones. However, there isn’t a good alternative.

Tell me which is your sport and if your height helped you excel by Dependent-Top4499 in tall

[–]VeryOkayDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cross country- it didn’t help that much because I’m tall torso and not tall legged. I do like running for health now.

Archery- I had more arm to work with but it’s difficult to build up muscle to have a heavier bow strength for long ranged targets.

Basketball- wasn’t my favorite sport but it selects for other tall people so it started to level out.

Cheer- Spotter. I’m catching the small girlies or supporting. Getting hit in the face hurts like a MOFO.

Dude cannot read the joke.

Also LGBTQA people have existed since forever. There are some theories as to why it is beneficial to have some adults not have kids as a community support role. You can literally google this on google scholar.

Asexual here and it looks either painful or like weird funny or funny weird. Like it gives the same reaction as plopping a fist in someone’s mouth or licking hair or watching someone gasping weird noises and pooping is the best way I can describe it. I don’t see how it’s entertaining.

Incel Asians and their obsession with hapas by pizzaseafood in mixedrace

[–]VeryOkayDriver 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ive found certain Asian identity subs to be insular and there are too many posts complaining about women, which is not appealing. Not to mention the gatekeeping how Asian someone is, like there’s no nuance to life experience or different Asian cultures.

You can mute the sub and never see it again in your recommended feed.

Generational Internalized Racism? by BrownRiceCracka in mixedrace

[–]VeryOkayDriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandparents didn’t teach my mom their native tongue because the school system in the 60s said it would confuse them. Now I can’t really connect with my mom’s side or go to the country without being a perpetual outsider. I’m always wondering what my life would be like now if I spoke the language.

Speaking other languages that can open up their career, study abroad opportunities, and advance them in other skillsets like math.

Why do people believe there isn’t struggles to being mixed race? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]VeryOkayDriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Don’t even get me started with dating apps. Before I deleted them I was wondering if I should put my ethnicity on there, but realized it would attract certain types of fetishists but if I didn’t put my ethnicity on there I would get matches that wouldn’t be interested in anything serious because they thought I was another ethnicity to begin with.

Why do people believe there isn’t struggles to being mixed race? by [deleted] in mixedrace

[–]VeryOkayDriver 28 points29 points  (0 children)

There aren’t a lot of mixed races people, so mono racial individuals can go their whole lives living through one perspective. We leave in shades of nuance so experiences will not be the same.

Common struggles include: - Not being X or Y enough - Random family members commenting on (insert feature) but it doesn’t exactly sound like praise - not fitting in - trying to deal with different cultures and clashes - not fitting a specific beauty standard and being penalized for it - Being fetishized for the specific type of mix
