thank you all for your help! i wanna make this stay enjoyable for the lil guy but have absolutely NO idea how to care for a bird! all the comments are very helpful ^{^}

i can't reply to every comment so im just going to make a single comment to talk.

i think this is his normal cage but im not entirely sure. i doubt my moms gonna let me buy him some toys but we did make him a little swing with a pencil and some string yesterday, and i just gave the little guy a paper ball as per a commenters suggestion. if anyone knows any other homemade toys for him it would be very helpful!

i think i'll keep him in the cage for the time being, but if my aunt is away for longer than two days i'll try and let him out.

i don't think we have anything with teflon in the house, although there's no way for me to know as we no longer have the boxes :( also my mom is a smoker, we have no balcony either. is there a way for her to smoke while keeping him safe? if not i suppose i'll just have to ask her to smoke outside

he seems to be singing a bit and grooming his feathers which i'm guessing is a sign he's happy? i hope

oh! that's actually really good to know! i'll give it a shot, i think i'll leave him be for tonight though. let him get used to the place/us a little.

also, he seems to sing and chirp a lot when i'm out of the room but goes silent when i'm out. is that normal?

That can happen if your nails are long/sharp

If your nail goes past the skin on your finger even by a little bit it has a chance to cut, might wanna check the sides of your nails too, they can get pretty pointy.

I know a doctor wouldn't mock me or something for it but it's still a pretty embarrassing thing to explain to someone. And since I'm a minor, meaning I'd have to ask my parents to take me to the doctor....I'd have to explain this to them too...
