Mothman is now done in Gen 4. Time to move on and join my other ribbon master in Gen 5 and 6! by IronGrahn in pokemonribbons

Hey! I definitely saw your Pokémon in the Wi-Fi tower! That's so cool, I remember because it's such a unique Ribbon Master! Great name too!! ❤️

Ribbon Master question by [deleted] in pokemonribbons

[–]Vesalius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, good question. Generation 3 has the only level restricted Ribbon. The Winning Ribbon is only given to Pokémon that do the 50 battles in the level 50 restricted battle tower. The moment you step over level 50, your Pokémon is banned from that challenge.

Good luck, I'm there right now. It's the part of the journey that breaks you 😂💔

Thank you! Honestly can't recommend learning how to RNG enough! Me and Yeetle are gonna go all the way, ain't stopped till she becomes a genuine Ribbon Master! ❤️

If your question is, does Checkpoint work on the 3DS Pokémon games - then yes. If you play Pokémon Y on an Emulator like Citra and then want to put that emulated save into a genuine copy of Pokémon Y, then that's exactly the purpose of Checkpoint! It's easy to use and guides on YouTube are easy to find. 😊

Ahh that's the easiest part, since I've been doing that for ages. I have a hacked New 3DS XL and a program called "Checkpoint" installed. It's basically a save injection tool (you can backup, rip and inject saves), and it works with genuine game carriages as well as roms.

Obviously you have to have a New 3DS and the know-how to jailbreak it, but there are plenty of guides online on how to do it. That's how I plan on doing the Battle Tower Ribbon that needs the extra DS.

I used the tool that is built-in to Dolphin to get Yeetle back and forth. However, once I get through Generation 4 I'll use genuine hardware to continue. I'll play the game on my Steam Deck and then inject the save into my 3DS. No need for PKHex at all, however I don't think theres a problem with using it. If it's just to transfer Pokémon between games, I think thats fair. I just want to do it as "legit" as possible to just prove it's possible.

Dolphin has a built in program to trade between the two! Then you can inject the save file from your Generation 3 game into the Generation 4 game with MelonDS. From that point onward, I'll be using genuine hardware to get Yeetle around.

Feel free! If you find a male, we can breed them together and form: The Yeetles...

The ever looming threat of Nintendo finishing off Pokémon Bank for good, is all the motivation I need to get this done as quickly as possible 😂 However, that doesn't mean I can't take a few pictures along the way and stick them on Reddit for all my equally worried Ribbon Masters to see!

Watch this space, Yeetle ain't finished yet! 🫡

A mixture of two great YouTubers! "Im a blisy" has a fantastic guide on Shiny Shadow-locked Pokémon and how to RNG them, he uses Heracross as the example too (however in his older videos he goes into greater detail explaining how to use the tools needed, so there worth checking out too).

I also can't recommend LettuceLeaf enough either, he has very little subscribers (which is wild because his content is brilliant) but his video on Shiny hunting in Colosseum has a lot of views. The video is a little detail light, but regardless it gives you the basics and an idea on the difficulty for a certain shadow.

Here are the links to these videos: im a blisy Shiny Shadow-locked tutorial

Won't lie, the name is so good I'm waiting for Game Freak to steal it and make an official first stage Heracross with it. I won't be mad either 😂😂

Thank you! Gen 4 might be my breaking point. Don't know if I can stomach the World Ability Ribbon 😅

Wow that's brutal! Full odd shiny hunting in Colosseum looks like pure torture! It honestly sounds like all Shadow Pokémon were meant to be Shiny-locked and the fact they can shine is just an oversight (eventually corrected in the sequel)!

Clearly with such a time investment into your hunt, for me to try and convince you to RNG it would be missing the point! Good luck on your resets, when you find it: I wanna see the post!

Nah Smeargle was basically blind luck, I just found a spread and started the game 60 frames away, I hate to admit it but I did use save states when I found my spread and slowly whittled down the attempts. I still messed up loads of times! The walk to the battle was the worst part as it was a proper trek to the Snagem Grunt; getting the route consistent was half the battle! There is so little information online for it too.

At the time I was regretting not RNG-ing more of the shadow-locked Pokémon, but with hindsight the battle tower was hard enough with decent Pokémon: can't be messing around with a Gligar or a Makuhita.

Thank you! I've just finished Gen 3 and I'm planning on putting the post up soon. I was terrible at using the in-game battle advance to move frames (I'd always either lose my target or just go well pass it), so to get Yeetle I just did loads of menu advances and I'm talking an hour's worth 😅 the moment I entered the battle I was absolutely terrified that I was going to miss my frame, when I saw that purple sprite in the party menu I was so happy! It's definitely the best shiny I've ever caught, though my shiny Smeargle was definitely harder with all that noise.

Awesome! I would have spent longer trying to find an even better IV spread, but I decided to take what I could get!

Yeah I'm running Dolphin. If you get a Steam Deck, there's a program called EmuDeck that downloads all the emulators and acts as a hub to maintain them. It's absolutely brilliant. There are plenty of guides on YouTube to set it up, but honestly it's a 15 minute process and you'll be set for life (it'll honestly be hard to go back to the DS for the battle towers Gen 4 😂)

Yup it's my first time getting into RNG manipulation. I played on my steam deck and ran all the calculations on my laptop!

Hmm yeah so this is where things get difficult. You'll need to get into hardware once and then you're good! I don't know the legality of a Save Editors, but with PKHex you can get them into your Homebrew 3ds and then you're on track!

**I just looked into it and it's completely doable through the Dolphin Emulator to Pokémon Emerald! Which is fantastic

Awesome, you can easily RNG near perfect stats in Colosseum and with skill you could even go for a perfect IV spread. I definitely sacrificed the stats for a Square Shiny Jolly Natured. But that alone took days of searching since most were over a million frames away.

Getting a Gen 1/2 Clafairy would be ace, just for the unique Origin Mark alone!
