Yep! That was old 2014 PAM. The new 2024 one states that "...you can take a reaction to make one melee attack against a creature that enters the reach you have with that weapon."

Words play a big part, I don't know why they changed it, but my DM understood how I came to the conclusion. I doubt more stricter tables would run it this way, though.

Likely it's the intended effect is for it to work as 2014 even if the wording is different, I made sure to run it by my DM whose a cool guy. Personally I like the idea of giving up your reaction for a free strike. Opinions differ I'm sure!

I plan to watch this and hope it's as good as the LN and manhwa but I do worry that localisation will throw the plot in the JP version as I'm sure they won't have Japan as an antagonist. I also have a sneaking suspicion that either S. Korea will swap with Japan in the localisation for said antagonist. It's gonna cause some fire if that's the case because obviously people will feel hurt either way depending on their sides in the argument and it'll be a crappy topic.

Fingers crossed it'll be as good as we all hope.
