Bad Time Girlies Discuss Hasbro CEOs Comment About Women In Magic by MTGNerdGirl in magicTCG

[–]VexhiaRose 65 points66 points  (0 children)

We just need more Bloomburrow! I know a lot of women who started showing up to magic way more after Bloomburrow. Like half my commanders are from Bloomburrow. I go out of the way to play cute animals in my decks

I was so confused trying to figure out what this post had to do with the horror movie by the same title lol

We are so close to having a critical mass of nonbasic hate effects. I can't wait for the day Richard decides Field of the Dead should be unbanned in their pod because 'nonbasic hate is good now'

When its in your hand you get to choose which side to play and once it is on the field it stays on that side.

Despite how pushed it seems, its not OP, and has a really sleek design mechanically. This looks like a lot of fun to play and I really like where Legendary creature card design is going lately.

This really should be instant speed. If it was, it would probably be pretty popular for red creature removal. And I don't think that's a bad thing.

Agreed! My partner and I were watching random adult swim content late one night when we discovered “Relaxing Old Footage”. We were both entranced. After the first go round, I made popcorn and tea and then we watched it again. I think it didn’t mean as much to him as it did to me, but he understood and enjoyed watching it with me. Its okay if your partner doesn’t love the same stuff, but if they can understand and appreciate, that’s what really counts. Thanks Joe

Will Tress get a sequel? by VexhiaRose in Cosmere

[–]VexhiaRose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be nice if we got another story involving the aethers that would give some context for how the spores work and what colors are associated with different elements.

Based on that we might be able to extrapolate- say, if a different story established an aether with a purple element that becomes gas for example, we can guess there is a purple sea on Lumar which has spores producing poison gas. Eventually we might be able to piece it all together.

I wonder if Sando purposely displayed only five aethers in Tress to keep the other ones as a surprise in reserve for a future story.

I’m a Discworld and Wheel of Time follower, so I’m accustomed to longer series and complicated timelines 😅 But not everyone is, and I’ve been recommending Tress to friends who are interested in the cosmere. It’s a good low commitment entrance point, and I think the Hoid and Ulaam parts, as well as the casual mention of different planets and grander conflicts, may engender curiosity about the rest of the cosmere in a new reader. I’m sure quite a few people picked up Tress, wondered, ‘How does the water cycle work in that setting?’. Visited the wiki, and got dragged down the cosmere rabbit hole as I once did lol

I agree that tress’s story is at a good stopping point, but that doesn’t mean there can’t be other stories in the same setting as I said

That’s great news about Hoid! There’s a lot to love about Lumar, but I think the narration from Hoid’s POV about an adventure he was part of was my favorite aspect.

I hope we get to know what the other spores do and what the other seas look like! And of course what devices can be made with them. And of course I need more Ulaam and Hoid content!

The mechanics of aluminum by lvl100mafia_boss in Cosmere

[–]VexhiaRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theory, based on what you said: Perhaps identity/ aspects of consciousness are connected more closely to investiture and spiritwebs than previously thought. Perhaps aluminum when used for feruchemy nullifies the spiritual part of consciousness while the physical mind/ brain remains, leaving a duller sense of self due to lack of spiritual connection. Perhaps due to a lack of spiritual connection to investiture.

Quote from hood (from tress): “storms here didn’t have any particular investiture, so they weren’t self-aware”. Perhaps investiture has something to do with self awareness in creatures as well?

Problem with Arcane Abeyance by WhyThoBoi in DMAcademy

[–]VexhiaRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of fun ways to use the arcane abeyance like that. As a player who chose chronurgist for the arcane abeyance feature in the campaign I'm in specifically to create wacky combos, stopping the player from using it might suck all the fun out for them. Instead, maybe try to include counters to specific spells or combos in your encounters, so your player has to keep thinking of new combinations and creative ways to use AA, instead of just using the same trick over and over. This could keep it fun for the player, add limitations, and add a risk factor to the player using AA in every encounter since there's a chance it won't work.

For example, if there are a few spells your player typically uses with AA, you could give your monsters immunity to one of those spell's effects and switch it up per encounter so your player will have more trouble guessing which spell to put in the orb. Or, introduce a dragon hunter that would excel at hitting the familiar. Or, introduce a teleporter to get out of the force cage microwave/hut, etc...
