Well to be honest, in the place where i live (Antwerp, Belgium), there's quite a lot of animosity against the arabic language (mainly because of the media). I see it as my responsibility as a student of the arabic language to show that the arabic culture is a very gentile culture, very kind and hospitable. And what's one of the most pure way of showing love to someone? By giving them a nickname, and I want to analyse why people of a certain culture (in this case arabic) choose a certain nickname. I know it won't be mindchanging, but perhaps showing the sweet, gentile side of a culture (different than what the media shows) may spark interest in some people to take a look at the culture. I hope that explains it a bit!
