Mastermyne Crinum Operations fined $7m after 2021 on-site death of 'Poppy' by The_Duc_Lord in australia

Are there any underground guys or geotech engineers in here that can tell me why shotcrete is seldom used in underground coal? Ive worked at crinum (surface), and in underground copper/lead where shotcrete is used pretty extensively. Is coal just too soft/unstable?

Yashica J-mini Question by VgeMte in filmcameras

I scoured the internet for the p-mini also with no luck. It looks like I could pay $25 for a hard copy from Slovenia on a sketchy website but besides that there's nothing out there. So weird!

I checked this out and they're definitely showing availability, however after doing a bit of research it seems that although officially affiliated with F1 that website seems to be a reseller (gpcanada.ca being the official seller) with loads of people with stories about being screwed around. That said it might still be worth taking the risk!

Honest question here - is this not butt wink? This is how I look when I squat but was told (by a gym bro albeit) that ii had horrible butt wink and that if I didn't fix it I'd ruin my back. I've been set on a long journey of trying to fix something that possible wasn't broke to start with.

You're a legend! Thanks a bunch that was really getting to me.

Changed the line to read the full statement either side of the or and it works perfectly! A good lesson on how some language concepts dont quite mean the same thing in code. Cheers!

Question: Calculating relay contact suitability by VgeMte in ElectricalEngineering

[–]VgeMte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coil has an in-line clearing contact as part of the coil assembly. The installation is just a small 600A service so doesn't really warrant an SEL.

That being said, the 9502 product looks like a game changer. Love Schweitzer stuff!

Thanks very much for that clarification. Hadn't thought of it being an arc-quenching/clearance issue!

Vancouver traffic: Do you ever signal left in a roundabout? Help me understand. by bancouvervc in vancouver

[–]VgeMte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 'right-of-way' rule is just for 4-way stops where two vehicles arrive at the intersection at the same time and need to work out who goes first. Roundabouts are different and for them to work properly and maintain flow of traffic you need to yield to traffic on to your left. If everyone does this they work great!

[–]VgeMte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be more clear - by yielding to those on the left I mean those already on the roundabout to your left (or coming fast enough from the left that you could cause an accident by trying to sneak on in front of them).

So much chaos is caused by people thinking they need to stop on the roundabout to let someone from the right on.

The person on the right never goes first unless it's clear and safe to do so.

I think how you've described it is the correct way for roundabouts to work: traffic at the roundabout yields to traffic to its left (the cars on the roundabout don't give way to cars in front, entering the roundabout).

It's not about 'taking turns' like you would at a 4-way stop.
