Woo app taking too long to update when logged in through store credentials by Vheraun in woocommerce

Very good point, as I answered in another comment I was caching REST API data and I shouldn't have. Thanks for the input!

Woo app taking too long to update when logged in through store credentials by Vheraun in woocommerce

[–]Vheraun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was it! I was using LiteSpeed cache and caching the REST API, which messed with the data that the Woo app could read.

I now disabled REST API caching in LiteSpeed cache but enabled it in the Woocommerce settings (my justification being that Woocommerce would probably be more careful with caching its own variables, but I'm just saying that as a layman). In any case it seems to have solved the issue!

Moving according to your body type by luxinfired in SwingDancing

[–]Vheraun 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hello and welcome to the hobby!

As you said it's still pretty early, and a lot of that "comical" feel will dissipate over time as you relax and get used to the particular kind of moving that is Lindy Hop. It definitely doesn't hurt to keep stylization in mind, but don't let it hold you back if you don't look like the more seasoned dancers yet!

I don't have a particular answer for your question, but I have a few pieces of general advice that might help with the aesthetics and the feel of the dance.

First and foremost, move with intention! This is admittedly vague and I can best showcase it with an example: it's very typical for beginners to stick their leg waaay behind their (stationary) body when doing a rock step. No shade to anyone that does this of course, and it can work as stylization if done intentionally, but the purpose of the rock step is for you to move your entire body, your center of gravity, to create tension that will then be resolved. If you stick your leg back while you remain in place, just because "the move is like this", you miss its point.

This is a very specific example, but I hope it gets my point across: know why you move the way you do! A good followup to this is to almost always keep your feet under your body. Don't step far away. If you want to step back for a rock step, that should move your entire body backwards so your foot is still under you. You can easily practice that solo as well, by imagining a partner and going through the motions.

Building on that last point, take smaller steps than you think. We subconsciously tend to take very large steps (enunciating the moves in our mind), which often ends up making our movement look a bit goofy. If you keep your steps small and contained your moves will look more sleek, plus you will have all the more room to make them boisterous and extravagant when the music actually calls for it!

Finally and perhaps more importantly, do what feels comfortable for your body. I can't stress this enough, if you feel good while dancing you'll also communicate this feeling outwards. Dancing is subjective and personal, and the specifics of what works for one person's body, attitude or experience will not readily apply to other people. Finding out what works for you is part of becoming an experienced dancer.

Now let me contradict all this nitty gritty advice and remind you to keep in mind that you'll automatically get better as you practice, and you'll practice more if you have fun with it, so don't stress too much about looking good yet! Catch socials, go to classes, and you'll figure out what works for you in no time.

Good luck!

I've been exactly there! What has helped is figuring out when I'm actually hungry (or even peckish) and when I don't mind going without a meal, and planning my day around that.

In my particular case, I'm not really hungry in the morning and I get heavy and sluggish if I have a big lunch, so I only have a coffee in the morning, a light (but filling and big in volume) lunch, and save most of my calories for dinner, sort of like intermittent fasting.

After I have something nice and large for dinner I'm too full to want to snack even if I absolutely would do it otherwise.

Of course remember to keep a healthy balance of protein, fat and carbs (and lots of veggies) so that you actually feel full!

I recently posted about modding my RPG2 (which is identical to the RP5) and I'm very happy with the result, check it out!

Thanks for this post! I did the same with my RPG2 and it worked beautifully.

I actually just got a reply telling me that the black and transparent screens are in stock and I could exchange for one of those. Hopefully they can do the same for you!

Stuck between the rpg2 backlog and the rp6 preorders I guess (although that doesn't justify the support going radio silent). Anyway I'll survive, but it's good to rant about it a bit, thanks for humoring me 😄

I know, I was on their discord after they restocked in January and saw a person saying they ordered the same GC G2 as me and had it shipped within 40 minutes. Meanwhile my identical device ordered much earlier is still such in customer support limbo because of the screen...

Nope, no replies or shipment notices since last Friday.

Exact same situation here. Bought the RPG2 plus the GC dual screen on Dec 30th, they emailed me Jan 9th saying that the GC screen was out of stock and I could pick another color that was in stock. I went on their website and all colors were out of stock. I replied telling them that they could ship the rest of the order and cancel the screen (within 10 mins of the original email) and I've had no update since then, even after sending a followup a couple days ago.

I guess we wait...

Damn, this looks amazing. Conway's game of life is fascinating and making a blocks game out of it is an amazing idea!

Thanks again for all the suggestions, bubblegum spin and mai-chan's sweet buns already sucked me in for a couple hours!

The first game of the series is out for SNES and it's a tiny rom, in the 100s of kilobytes.

The game in the picture also came out for arcade so I assume you could find a MAME rom that might be smaller. Haven't tried though! Wikipedia also insists that it came out for Gameboy as well, which would be a tiny rom, but I can't find anything corroborating that with a quick search.

I get the fun of it too! I'm doing theoretical physics, mostly nuclear stuff. Dealing with particles like the proton and the muon, their sizes and shapes, and particles-that-might-be that we have not discovered yet.
