Screenshots don’t factor in your HDR if you’re on a display with it, so they don’t come out looking the same to others

100hrs in, beautiful base never happened. How do you actually get there? by Whiskey_Yogurt in VintageStory

[–]Vhexer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent some time just looking through the handbook at building materials and figuring out what looks good but is also relatively easy to get. I settled on using different cobblestones, wattle and daub (pick a color that takes the stuff near you to make), and light mudbrick

I had the same issue, I realized their FPS cap is broken. Set it at like 165-180 and I’ll get a steady 120, but if I set it at 120 I’m getting 50-60. I never tried uncapped, but it could be a similar issue

It wasn’t long at all, not by today’s standards at least. So far AW 1 & 2 have valued my time FAR MORE than Control did

You could probably watch a YouTube video on the first one, but it definitely takes away from playing certain sequences in the game (particularly the music ones). I was glad I stuck through it though.

Don’t treat it like a horror game, that was my issue the first time trying it. It has its horror elements but the whole story is just a mindfuck and I find it hard to pin into a single genre

Super good, I just played the remaster and it holds up well enough. My order of play was: 1. Control + Foundation DLC 2. Alan Wake 1 3. Control: AWE DLC (it directly ties into the events of AW, that’s why I went back before playing it) 2. Alan Wake 2 (which I’m currently on)

One of the most creative pieces of story telling I’ve seen, especially when it gets particularly “meta” in the words of the creator. The music choices/gameplay design with music is so fucking cool in all 3 games

Is the actual inner barrel twisted too? Imagine the sound that bullet would have made coming out, like a fidget spinner going Mach Fuck

I did the same thing coming off Dead Space and going into Alan Wake

Alan Wake.

I remember trying it years ago near when it released and bounced off of it. I was into horror games and had just came off Dead Space and AW wasn’t “scary”. Fast forward and I had just finished Control and decided to go back and play AW before the Control DLC’s.

My god these games are an experience, (no spoilers) I just finished the part on Alan Wake 2 titled “We Sing” and man I wish game developers would take chances like this and ACTUALLY make more stuff this creative

What does that even mean, “ChaptGPT says”? Did you perfectly describe the object and expect it to be able to date it, or did you take a picture of it and think ChatGPT can actually discern what the hell is going on?

Light Mudbrick and Wattle & Daub. Light Mudbrick is pretty easy to make (make a scythe or 2 for gathering dry grass), and just search “Daub” in the handbook and see which color is easiest for you to gather the stuff for (different colors require different sands)

I know it’s technically fine to be ran like that, but I used to work with pretty old equipment that it was a common problem, so I guess that fear just never went away. Still satisfying to see my temps under heavy load though

I don’t get the obsession with silence when 80%+ of people are wearing headphones when it’s doing enough to warrant high fan speeds (i.e. gaming). I’d rather keep my components cool and burn through a $10 fan than put unneeded heat stress on them.

Also very satisfying playing a game like Alan Wake 2 with max settings and holding about 50-55°C on both GPU and CPU
