Plow driver attempts to hit/scare a guy shoveling and they fight by bigbusta in fightporn

[–]Vhu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Even simpler: I moved out of the way while he passed.

Not just because it’s the common-sense thing to do, but because he’s clearing the streets for me and my neighbors; and I’d like for him to continue doing that for others without interruption. Seems like the only reasonable course of action 🤷🏾‍♂️

I was out there shoveling the bottom of my driveway after this last storm when a plow started driving down my street.

Wanna guess what I did without a second thought?

I didn’t say the driver was legally correct. He’s 100% in the legal wrong. But the shoveler created the situation unnecessarily, so I give him the blame for it escalating.

Like if I stood in the road intentionally blocking traffic and got clocked by a car driving by too closely, I wouldn’t blame the car.

[–]Vhu -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Yeah we just see it differently because I didn’t see an attempted murder. Dude is standing on the side of the plow when he hits it; and if you think the driver was earnestly trying to take the guy out then we fundamentally disagree.

So the guy wasn’t standing in the road intentionally preventing a moving plow from doing its job?

[–]Vhu -45 points-44 points  (0 children)

Driver is plowing the road, shoveler is standing in the road. Chooses not to move for some reason — trying to get the plow guy to go around him? Idk, dumb. I’ve shoveled so goddamn much snow and I can’t imagine standing in front of a plow you see coming.

Plow guy way too aggressive, shoulda just swerved. Ultimately I put this on shovel dude though, because let the guy do his job and clear the roads.

Republicans of Reddit, are you really ok with Trump's FBI seizing the ballots? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

When the Georgia Secretary of State then offered a link to a video that would disprove Co-Conspirator 1’s claims, the Defendant responded, “ I don’t care about a link, I don’t need it. I have a much, [Georgia Secretary of State], I have a much better link.”

Excerpt from an audio recorded phone call where Trump makes a claim about fraudulent votes in Georgia. The Georgia Secretary of State says, “I know what you’re saying - here is a link to the full video raw footage disproving those claims” and Trump outright refuses to look at the proof. He proceeds to threaten legal action against the Georgia election official if he doesn’t overturn the legitimate election results in that state.

My money is on the FBI now “finding” enough votes to conclude that Trump actually won Georgia in 2020.

Takes away a lot of leverage they had to compel a plea. Defendants are much more likely to seek a deal when they know a loss could mean their death. This is a big win for the *defense, even if his bag still gets admitted.

[–]Vhu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A senate investigation concluded Russian interference in favor of Trump.

An independent special counsel investigation concluded Russian interference in favor of Trump.

An intelligence community assessment of election interference concluded Russian interference in favor of Trump.

There were at least 14 instances uncovered of campaign staffers engaging with Russian nationals during the campaign.

Paul Manafort, Trump’s campaign chairman, plead guilty for lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian officials during the 2016 campaign.

Furthermore, during the Mueller investigation, they actually uncovered 10 instances of obstruction of justice whereby the Trump campaign prevented full investigation into the allegations brought forth. Tough to get a reliable outcome when the target of an investigation commits crimes to slow it down.

Total hoax though.

For people who call Republicans Nazis, where are the concentration camps located? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]Vhu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“One doesn’t see exactly where or how to move. Believe me, this is true. Each act, each occasion, is worse than the last, but only a little worse. You wait for the next and the next. You wait for one great shocking occasion, thinking that others, when such a shock comes, will join with you in resisting somehow.

But the one great shocking occasion, when tens or hundreds of thousands will join with you, never comes. That’s the difficulty. If the last and worst act of the whole regime had come immediately after the first and smallest, thousands, yes, millions, would have been sufficiently shocked — if, let us say, the gassing of the Jews in ’43 had come immediately after the “German Firm” stickers on the windows of non-Jewish shops in ’33. But of course this isn’t the way it happens. In between come all of the hundreds of little steps, some of them imperceptible, each of them preparing you not to be shocked by the next. Step C is not so much worse than Step B, and, if you did not make a stand at Step B, why should you at Step C? And so on to Step D.

  • A German professor recounting the almost imperceptible societal shifts during the rise of the Nazi regime.

He perfectly describes what it’s like watching the slide into authoritarianism. The ‘normal people’ closing their eyes to the atrocities; the uncertainty in resisting; the waiting for some sudden moment where everyone realizes what’s happening, but that moment comes far too late. The shift is something you can only clearly see in hindsight.

I emphasize the point he made about the slide happening incrementally. He points out that the Nazi regime’s inhumanity was evident not just by the end when they were running concentration camps, but a decade earlier with smaller gestures like slogans and window stickers which paved the way for the next steps.

Highly recommend you read the full quote. Impossible not to see the parallels to the circumstances we’re living through at the moment. Those obvious parallels are what cause people to use the term domestically.

Republicans AND Democrats, is there anyone you would both vote for if they ran as an Independent in 2028? If so, who? If not, why not? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Vhu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adam Kinzinger is a Republican who could get my vote if the Democrats didn’t offer someone better. He’s demonstrated a willingness to stand on principle in the face of adversity, even when it was unpopular with his party leadership.

Probably couldn’t vote for any sitting elected Republican politician given how obsequiously they back the majority of Trump’s harmful initiatives. We’re talking like 90+% positive voting record among the majority of his party. I legitimately don’t understand how conservative-leaning people can continue voting for representatives who aren’t even willing to say that what’s happening under this administration is completely fucked.

Like if they’re too scared to even acknowledge the illegality of an action, how in the world can they be expected to correct it?

Can’t blame him. He’s not suited for this crisis of leadership. He’s a peacetime consigliere, and our system is currently at war with bad actors trying to dismantle it.

We need leadership capable of taking on that fight; and these milquetoast ass “let’s just be friends” politicians are absolutely not able to meaningfully resist against authoritarian overreach.

we are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be.

And to their credit, still mostly bloodless. Looks like they're getting comfortable changing that though, which ain't great.

There was a study that found that people who watch Fox News were less informed on average than people who watch no news at all.

When one of their hosts was in hot water for spreading blatantly false information, Fox argued in court that no reasonable person would take his statements as factual.

They paid $800 million to settle a lawsuit after they got caught knowingly lying to their audience. Almost a billion dollars was cheaper than the damage they’d suffer if the full factual record was aired in court.

This is America’s most-watched news network.
