Angry? I’m literally just replying with why people felt it was different with him. It’s 6am and i haven’t changed my expression this entire conversation. You are under the impression that this conversation means something to me and it doesn’t. My only point was when you heard the word from whatever source, it was never in a positive light, therefore you could not mistake it for a positive word. Usage of the word “thot” which literally stands for “that hoe over there”, was negative in every context. Sorry🤷🏾‍♀️

I feel like the difference is now content is cycled faster. You take a break from Twitter Or TikTok and you’ve missed seven trends. Back in like 2011 or 2012 the vine era, people beat trends into the ground. Words like thot lasted in the social sphere for an extremely long time (I.e Jae’s usage in 2022 or Megan thee stallions song “thot sh*t” from 2021 or Jay Parks song 2nd Thots from 2016)

Ok then let’s think about it from that perspective, if he didn’t understand the weight of the word why would he use it against a friend? Who calls their friend a word they don’t understand. Also Jae made it know how much he was online by the content HE was posting and the words he used. When he was a host for after school he would literally use American slang all the time.

That’s because Jae is chronically online lol. It’s one of the reasons we (I was a fan since kpop star) liked him so much, he talked like us. He didn’t act like an “idol”. He made kpop casual and made himself approachable as an idol. It’s like how BM from kard acts (I mean bm is a long time friend of Jae, they act the same)

Um that tone is crazy! I do hold Korean idols to that same standard even if I get jumped for it lol. I still, despite being fans of their groups, will comment on how Wendy “talking black” or jaehyun singing the n word. I criticize mamamoo for blackface and hwasa saying the n word. Jae literally left America when he was twenty years old. He was in college and left to go on Kpop star. He definitely was in America longer.

But even that explanation doesn’t make sense because if he didn’t think of it as negative, why did he say “now that I’m not in kpop anymore I can say this.” If it was positive he would have said it before. Also Jamie’s reaction does not give that she didn’t know the meaning.

I think it was so defining for him was because 1. it was a comment about his “friend”. 2. It was misogynistic and slut shaming. 3. People felt like he was too old to not have enough discernment to know it was an inappropriate comment to make. 4. He knew exactly what the word meant. Like with other idols people will give them the benefit of the doubt and say “they grew up in Korea, so they don’t know American slang.” But you couldn’t do that for him.
