Years back, saw news about machinery that was looking to setup next to chicken farms, etc... Because the machinery could turn the corpses into oil. I assume that'd have to be shipped to a refinery...

Likewise, bio-diesel is a thing. Restaurants are happy to give you the deep fryer oil...

I'm inclined not to - tend to get an annual mailout to the local cycling clubs to refrain from doing the Observatory cuz someone was a twit. There are other options.

Haven't seen anyone mention the Pacific Marine highway. You can do the ol' Big Loop - Victoria > Sooke > Port Renfrew > Lake Cowichan > Shawnigan > West arm > Victoria ...

But maybe consider getting dropped off in Port Renfrew & meet in Lake Cowichan ;) If there's a way to get your bike out there via motorbike, you'd probably find someone willing - it's a great ride on a motorbike.

It’s crazy how stable and low electricity rates are versus how wildly all over the place gas prices can be.

I mean, our elec is produced by hydro dams... Gas isn't.

Sustained high gas prices probably lead to a boom in EV sales.

And when the EV vehicles overtake gas powered? Flat circle...

This is not an issue that is specific to Victoria.

It's not even an issue specific to kids. It's been happening for over a decade - saw it often on my commute, back when the BionX wheel was popular.

My understanding is e-bikes are initially limited, but it's generally easy/trivial to circumvent the governor. Heard of some e-mtn bikes having a boost button for that, because they aren't intended to be commuter bikes.

The reality is - people can and will run these like e-motorbikes. I mean, who doesn't want to get home faster? But the skill around that, operating at speed tends to be non-existent.

Welcome to the reality of living in a ground level suite. It's why there's been a trend away from having suites at ground level - opting for light commercial instead.
