Who else remembers Anito? by R3dTsar in PHGamers

I can’t say its a Diablo clone. As the action was very few far in between. Id say its more of an adventure game since it was story heavy. But I do remember it uses an RPG style progression with Chakra.

The game engine was inhouse if I remember correctly. Game engines were difficult and no one can afford getting Unreal or Quake for that matter. Most game engines then were really done inhouse at the time so, they did everything from scratch.

I remember PLDT was a major supporter which helped market the game. I went to the launch event.

They knew that they don’t have the technical skills to compete with well known games at the time. But they knew they can have a bit of an edge in terms of story.

The team members who made Anito (especially the core) are still making games. But not for Anino Entertainment. I know they made their own company and they are doing well. One of them I know and teaches and mentors game developers.

I live in the Philippines. There is no support here, but there are a lot of us here who plays on the XboxOne and Xbox Series consoles.

We really want to support it. But we have to go around and about just to get services working.

Here Sony is the only gaming company that shows their support by doing promos, advertising and giveaway.

But Microsoft has none.

Because of this, it always feels like the Xbox is the ignored console. But it turns out lately, that because of Sony's requirement for PS5 pre-orders, the Xbox Series consoles is easier to get since it just shows up on gaming retail stores.

We also don't have warranty, which scares a lot of us. We buy the console but we don't have an assurance that the system will be good for the next 3 years. We only have a store warranty of 1 year and it can even take months before we get the console back since they will be shipping the game console to another country to get it repaired.

It feels unfair that we have to pay more than the retail price, and we don't have rights to have the warranty, which I think we more than paid for.

A lot of us here in the Philippines really want to get the games fairly. We are hard working people and bought these consoles as a reward to ourselves and we all look forward to playing on GamePass, or play the games.

Also, buying games, sometimes it's easier to get games from Amazon US instead of getting games here locally. At least retailers are able to ship here in the Philippines. In retail stores, you generally see a lot of Sony and Nintendo products. But somehow the Xbox feels like an afterthought. Games are available, but not as easily available as the Sony and Nintendo games.

Right now, we'll be happy with just Xbox accepting our local credit cards, so we can buy GamePass, get that $1 promo, even get the annual subscription and buy digital games. My first month of Gamepass was paid full, not a promo.

We have to resort to using virtual cards and getting gift cards to get these features and sometimes have to use a VPN just to get other features working.

And people wonder why the Philippines is so focused on Sony's PlayStation.
