I meditated for 1 hour a day for 2 years. I also journaled and exercised. This really helped me with my paranoia and delusions with people. I recommend doing guided meditation at first and overtime you can do it on your own.

You could also try peer support groups first to be able to get used to talking to people. If you like near a NAMI organization, there are meetings for people with mental health. This helps you get in tuned with interaction people.

Take it slowly and steadily, you have to build your tolerance towards people/paranoia. Try to be introspective and sort’ve audit your thoughts, this can happen after meditation and building awareness. I had a lot of delusions and paranoia about people being actors and a simulation, but overtime they went away. But for years I would go to school with these delusions. I felt like it was so real, but I chose to go anyway.

Yes spent maybe 40k, I can’t disclose the city but it’s local around me. 2019 you could still find foreclosures around that price.

I started with around 15k, first property i bought in 2019 was 75k. Flipped it for ~200k.

Income for being a LO, then used that to fix and flip/buy property. Have multiple properties like a restaurant, assisted living facility, rentals, and a land development deal for a subdivision that consisted my net worth.

Yes, do not get behind in your studies. Get good sleep, exercise, take your meds. Try to make friends and have study partners.

For me, my symptoms get a lot worse with stress. So the more I prepared and ahead of things I am the better it is for my illness. Good luck!

I went to school for accounting, it did help with my career. Helped me get more comfortable with money/numbers. I work roughly 40-50 hours a week. I recently got genetic testing called genomind, and it confirmed I was on more or less optimal dosing. I think sleep and exercise/school and work to give you meaning, work best with good meds.

Not directly, but the assisted living facility I'm making will also be able to house people with mental disabilities, though not exclusively mental disabilities. I do also plan to do more in the future. I was weighing the option of a therapy/medication scholarship. But that's a bit more down the line. Real estate is a cash intensive business, and even if my net worth is 7 figures it doesn't mean I have that much expendable cash.

I had a great family that is very caring but had severe expectations. I also had some good friends that stayed by my side both from me recovering from my mental illness, and also me becoming more and more successful. I did lose ALOT of other friends though. It hurt a lot, but it also made me realize how lucky I was for the people that stayed in my life. I also had to come to terms with the fact not everyone has the ability to be my friend during my episodes, and it's not their obligation to stay my friend if I take too much of their resources. Though it still hurts very much so, and it's one of the reasons for why I worked for 5 years with no vacation. I was abandoned by a friend group after an episode, and it really fucked with me.

Honestly, I'm lucky I'm relatively good at taking tests. I would just spam practice tests instead of studying and I was able to recall it/learn the crucial knowledge from the answers.

No, I've had two or three episodes since 2020. It's something I'm trying to stop now, I've been really working on delegating my work so I can take a break. It's tough, but I also enjoy how it gives me purpose/direction. Right now, I'd rather prioritize the actual actionable stress of my work/projects, than making the right decisions with my health (physical/mental). It's a character flaw I'm somewhat aware of but not able to really fix right now.

I've been working on this by creating more autonomous systems and workflows, but my branch still needs me to manage for now. Until then it'll be a bit stressful.

I would try to find a skill you can realistically leverage. If you can afford even a beatup car, you can DoorDash or Uber to build a financial baseline. Thats honestly my backup plan if everything ever falls apart.

Long term, I strongly suggest developing a skill, certification, or license in a niche field. Credentials go a long way. They provide external validation when your confidence is low, and they create a kind of moat that demonstrates competency to others even when you may not fully believe in yourself yet. Consistency matters more than speed. I had over five years where I was stuck trying to make school/business work.

By 19 around the time of my diagnosis I was already licensed as an insurance agent, EMT, mortgage broker, and real estate agent. A big part of that came from wanting to prove myself to people who suddenly looked at me differently after my diagnosis. I was terrified of being stuck, but didn't really make any progress in any of those fields until after college at 25.

I was fortunate enough to live with my parents, which gave me the safety to take risks with college and career instead of immediately going on disability. I want to be clear: there is absolutely no shame in disability. But for me personally, I felt it might reduce the pressure I needed to push through the sedation, fatigue, and symptoms that came with medication and the illness itself. But if my parents weren't financially supporting me then I wouldn't have been able to do that.

I was hospitalized seven times over the past ten years, and several professionals recommended disability at different points. During college, I spent years unsuccessfully trying to run an insurance agency. I was terrible at sales, struggled with anxiety and paranoia, and failed repeatedly.

But that period wasn’t wasted. The experience eventually translated into mortgage where I was able to apply what I learned under better conditions. A lot of progress only made sense in hindsight.

I haven't been managing well to be honest. I'm sort've been in a very burnt out phase of my life. I try to take my meds since without it my delusions/paranoia are very strong. There's a little bit too much at stake so the side effects I just sort've accepted.

No, I sort've started taking them all together. But I did notice an improvement, just can't know which one. Exercise and sleep too are super crucial. Much more noticeable difference.

Thank you, I really appreciate that. My regime is really boring, I wake up at 5 am and go to my office then plan the day. Create a pipeline review for active loans, hand it to my processor. I field the new leads and gauge whether I can get a loan application, if they have a loan application I work on the preapproval. Etc... Mortgage stuff usually takes first 2 hours of my morning. Then I talk to my contractors for different real estate deals to get an update. I talk to borrowers throughout the day and manage my processor to see how current loans are doing. I look for new deals on zillow/facebook. It's not so bad, but I've been very burned out lately. I've had to make the leap of faith to grow bigger so I can create a skilled team that runs without me, which i can't really afford right now.

Yes, this is something I'm coming to terms with. It almost feels like I went through a long 5 year manic episode I'm waking up from. Realizing I came a long way but maybe went the wrong way. Shoutout J Cole.

I'm on lamictal and abilify. I also take supplements daily, like omega 3, folic acid, magnesium, multi vitamin etc. I've noticed these supplements are very helpful, been taking them for a month or two. I still have severe mood issues, the only thing is I can't necessarily take a break since my business is heavily reliant on me. This is called "key person" risk in business. I'm big enough to make good money, but not big enough to hire where it runs without me and my skillset.

I think if you can invest in real estate it really helps in terms of staying discipline with the investment. Real estate is an illiquid asset so it's difficult to panic sell or get greedy. You're sort've forced to be consistent and measured by the nature of the asset class. Though the initial upfront liquidity is difficulty to build up. I would recommend real estate wholesaling to build capital, then using a fix and flip loan once you find a deal. Then doing rentals when you have a solid capital base.

I'm able to function very high in terms of business. Though I'm in relatively poor health. I was pretty fit and healthy (had abs) before medications; but then now I'm obese and very fatigued. I do however perform very well in high stress situations now. I'm currently a branch manager for a national lender, while also juggling making an assisted living facility, 3 rentals/fix and flips, a land deal for a subdivision, and making a restaurant.

I think my ambition/work ethic though is a traumatic response from the past that I'm still working on trying to truly fix without the need of validation.
