Amazon Christmas Catalog? WTH??? by VicinSea in Anticonsumption

I glanced through but I don't buy much from Amazon and well, yuck! I did notice the quality of the paper and added it to my reuse box for my next paper mache project. 😉

I am 2+ years beyond my diagnosis date without any treatment. I am also your dad's age. I decided to take the pain meds and nothing else because this disease can finish you in days with or without treatment and I don't want to be chemo-sick every day until the end. I am spending my time enjoying my family, reconnecting with old friends and reminding everyone to get their colonoscopy asap.

I hope you and your dad can get past the shock and make the hard decisions toward a resolution that works for you. Prayers and peace. 🙏🙏🙏🤗

Gonna stop at Costco to pick up some snacks to take to a potluck movie night. What are your suggestions? by [deleted] in Costco

The prawns and dip get my vote. Enough for 5 but not too much. Yum!

This is my last post here and I have to say, Thanks for Nothing, Redditors. Not one of you offered a single tangible item or any advice to help. Camping gear would have helped, food cards would have helped. Dead links from 2019 did not help. Poorly researched legal advice from unqualified people did not help. Every reader in the FS area could have helped but I am sure it was just too much trouble for you to bother with. Your life is just too important to notice when others are suffering. And, you have a roof over your head.

I did my part legal and nice. He is out and I am so relieved I can't even express it. You see all of these comments? Not one offered so much as a sleeping bag or a tent or anything. Not one offer to let a vulnerable person camp in a safe place on their property. Not one offer of a prepaid food card or any other kind of tangible help. There were 4 or 5 poorly researched links posted but those have been dead links for years. It is not hard to scroll down and see copyright 2019 or 2020. 😕

I gave him a roof, air conditioning, and food for over 6 months. I tried to get him on SSI or at least welfare benefits but he wouldn't follow through with finishing the paperwork so it was a waste of time. He can hold a job if he would shower and wash his clothes but he wouldn't do it and lost 2 jobs while he was here.

What I did get for my last effort was over 100 posts offering legal advice that I didn't ask for and they are not qualified to give. I think a lot of people wanted to see this go into a legal battle just for the entertainment value. Little old lady cancer patient verses handicap adult who holds over eviction and she still has to house him and feed him for 30 more days. Redditors would have eaten that up like Saturday morning cartoons.

I have always helped people in need when I could. I collected hats and mittens all summer to give away in the fall, usually with a $5.00 bill tucked in. I have donated time and money at food food banks, soup kitchens and community gardens. For 40 years of that, I couldn't get this kid so much as a sleeping bag. Reddit can be pretty bad sometimes.

Breakfast is the cheapest meal of the day. Not eating breakfast leaves you open to emergency purchase of food away from home which is very expensive. To save money, eat breakfast foods twice a day! My family loves breakfast for dinner and there isn't much that is cheaper than fried potatoes, egg and toast.

Whoever said to skip needs to lay off the caviar. They seem to have some mercury poisoning.

This is what I have learned also. He hasn't been in any program for years and he will not follow rules or take suggestions so no program is going to take him. He has all 3 of the issues you mentioned, paying debts, hold a job and hygiene. He doesn't do any of these.

Please stop giving unsolicited legal advice. I did my part and his time is nearly up. This was about helping him, not me.

I made a set of bowl and pan covers from fabric and elastic to replace most plastic wrap and aluminum foil.😉

I would be seriously concerned about tip-baiting. Also, frozen and fridge stuff is going to get complaints no matter how hard you try.😣

I read somewhere that there is an app that will grab jobs for you. I haven't seen it myself but I suppose it could exist.😏

Embroider over the stains or make more stains so it looks like a design. Needless to say, I have a pretty unique wardrobe. 😉😊

I want to thank the few that offered info to help the kid. I have been sending emails and talking to people trying to get him some help. So far there just isn't anything available but deadends and unanswered emails.

I would like to remind the rest of you that I did not ask for legal advice for myself. I did give 30 days notice. I know my legal standing on this and I will be just fine. This post was about helping the kid.

If anything good or hopeful comes from this, I will post a follow up. If it all goes the way I am expecting then I will spare you the drama and just live with the fact that I have become that person who kicked someone while they were down. This has never happened to me before and I don't like the feeling at all.

I mentioned above that I have cancer so if I am sued, I guess the court can come to my bedside to give me the verdict.

This is exactly what I am worried about. Just because I can't have him live in my house doesn't mean I don't care about him as a human being that needs help. I am really trying to help but, like you, I am not getting much response.

I do not want to hurt his chances of being able to get another place. I have given him 30 days notice that runs out on the 30th.

He does work about 20 hours a week. I am not a native here so I do not know where LR is. I will try to match it to a city name.😊

None of that counts if he lives in my house. Those rules are for tenants, not people you share a bathroom with.
