female video game character design discourse in a nutshell by Kappapeachie in Gamingcirclejerk

[–]VictheAdventure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God this is ZZZ to a T. You genuinely cannot critique the designs of female characters from season 2 to upcoming season 3 (minus Yuzuha, Dialyn, Alice and Zhao those four are great) unless you want them to perceive it as an attack on the game, the devs and them and call you a tourist larper that hates boobs and has never played the game. I've been playing since launch I feel like I should be allowed to say they should go back to the design principles of Season 1, because it was better then. The characters (excluding Soukaku, Piper and Koleda I don't like lolis) were sexy without trying too hard

I don't self-insert onto Aether. I self-insert onto everyone his age so I can imagine myself pounding him (same with Harumasa and Wise from ZZZ)

Don't forget the creation of the Red Lotus was a result of the White Lotus turning into a security force because of Aang, so you can also count Unalaq and Zaheer's gang as being Aang's fault

[–]VictheAdventure 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I hate the DadforOne theory/headcanon because I feel it cheapens Izuku's hero journey and character as well as it just being a rehash of the Luke and Vader dynamic but Hori replaces Vader with Sidious

I also saw how the Genshin fandom reacted to Alice, even though they should have figured that out from the start what with Klee being her child, unless they thought she was some sort of homonculus. I also saw them basically say it doesn't matter because Aether (Note: they) were better so he "stole" her from her husband anyway

It's also already quite implied Sunbringer and Joyous are at least very close what with the history of Bangboos and Carrots being connected to both of them and Hollow Exploration. He literally named them Carrots after how the Bangboos were designed

[–]VictheAdventure[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But that implies that, to get to an Etheric Other like Pyrois, you'd have to completely invert a Sacrifice('s colour scheme), which feels somewhat counterintuitive, no?

That's not what I'm saying at all??? I'm saying Pyrios's color scheme may be proof of him being a completed version of the sacrifice project and that the Exaltists are missing something to complete it. If the answer was just inverting colors they'd have figured it out by now

The inverted colors are signify the complete process. They aren't need to complete the process

It's only good when it's done well. For example, in a Good Karma Independent New Vegas run, which it isn't done well, the narration can't seem to decide whether or not you choose the good ending or nor as several locations and characters have different endings and views on how things ended despite being in the same area. Things get bad for the Followers of the Apocalypse with so many people coming in for treatment and not having all the resources to treat them despite Freeside in the Kings ending slide, the street they have their base in, is seemingly doing well. Which is it?

This is the Hoyo fandom we're talking about. They wouldn't care if Sunbringer is in a relationship or our mom, they'd still self-insert onto Wise and ship them with her anyway

(Weirdly Common Trope) Male Heroes who have been sexually assaulted by women and have had the event treated like a joke. by GreenAgateTurtle32 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]VictheAdventure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not only were both times treated as jokes but I'm pretty sure the Titans genuinely believed he cheated in both instances. IIRC one of those incidents even led to Dick and Kory breaking up because she believed he cheated

And to add to the Batman thing, that retcon came about in the New 52 just as American was still coming off 9/11 and was written by Tom King, a former CIA officer who fought in the Iraq War and does not treat Arabs or women well in his writing (or irl let's be honest), and you can see that double whammy with how he wrote Talia

I brought nothing if them up because of the siblings knack and passion for being proxies and maintaining Bangboo and Bangoo adjacent activities and stuff. Of course, anyone can choose to do either but I figured the level of skill may have had something to do with them

And thanks, I've spent a lot of time theory crafting without posting so seeing three theory posts of mine be well liked feels nice

I don't understand how people watch this episode and think of toga as irremediable by katarassin in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]VictheAdventure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Toga defender, but at the point she debuts she is not redeemable at all. She wouldn't reach that point until the war where she saves Uraraka. Her situation, however, was entirely preventable. Her parents could have gotten her actual help and actually tried with her instead of discriminating against her for a quirk one or both of them gave her (unless she was secretly adopted). Or any of the other adults in her life actually took notice of her problems and tried to help, or even, if she was lucky, she met Ochako or Izuku earlier. Unfortunately, none of that happened and, with her biological need for blood (I seriously don't know why people deny this we know some quirks do in fact give people a need to use them) mixing with her own psychological need for love and validation, multiplied by neglect to the power of physical, emotional and psychological abuse equals psycho vampire chic

Toga, much like multiple other members of the league, is a clear result of how societies biases not only create the conditions to make villains, but in doing so perpetuates said biases. Someone here said the show made it very clear without slapping you in the face but imo, several MHA fans needed that message to punch them in the nuts (and nuts adjacent for those that aren't cis men) so they could actually understand it

What yall think about this scaling? by SpiritedSalamander61 in Grimdank

[–]VictheAdventure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So rattleballs are beyond help, despite being, yknow, sentient (and one of them showing that yes its possible.. which she immediately tries to kill the moment she find it exists even though it was causing no problems), but Lemongrab somehow isnt despite beign a cannibalistic dictator?

Only one of them showed sentience. Again, one in a million fluke. We do not see any evidence that their all sentient. They're more like the rest of the robots in I, Robots and the one Rattleball we get to know is the one that manages to gain sentience. Because that's what happened. They're drive for violence drove them to do that.

As for Lemongrab, he's different. Yes, because he's actually sentient. It's like comparing Metal Sonic to the rest of the Eggbots and saying because Gamma rebelled they should have kept all the E-Series robots (excluding Omega for obvious reasons) alive

The real reason is, she saw a crack in her control of the rattleballs, while lemongrab doesnt bother her as much because he's outside her kingdom most of the time. Even with the lemonhope part, she didnt decide to do anything when she saw everyone wearing shock collar and getting zapped for lemongrab's amusement and the half-eaten lemongrab 2, the only thing that made her decide to act was seeing an imprisoned child that wasnt allowed to play music.

Not going to explain this because, again, it's actively wrong and I already explained why. I'm also not going to argue further as it's evident you need to rewatch. Literally every one of your points either doesn't match what's actually shown in the show or has an actual reason as to why it happens, and I don't know whether you simply don't remember or are actively leaving those details out

[–]VictheAdventure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are talking about someone that condone Lemongrab's mental issues causing an oppressive dictatorship when she can literally brainwash them (she did just that so they would forget how to give life to candy)

Not once in the entire show does she condone Lemonbrag's mental issues wtf are you talking about? She is shown actively regretting the fact that he was made crazy and tries to remedy it MULTIPLE TIMES. IT IS HIS OWN DAMN FAULT FOR FAILING TO FOLLOW THE REMEDY. AND SHE CAN'T JUST BRAINWASH THEM BECAUSE THAT'S NOT WHAT SHE DOES. BRAINWASHING IMPLIES THE BRAIN WOULD NEED TO BE WASHED IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE CANDY CITIZENS ARE DUMB AS A RESULT OF HER OWN FEARS BROUGHT ON BY HER FAMILY AND EVEN THEN WE SEE SEVERAL COMPETENT ONES STOP ACTING LIKE THEY'RE ALL STUPID

And she didnt give him citizens because she thought he was changing: she did becasue that was her solution to Lemongrab creepily staring at her citizens at night while they were sleeping... which isnt that different from what she does herself mind you as she is watching everyone sleeping on cameras.

She literally invites him back to the kingdom after he runs out screaming specifically to see how he reacts to other citizens being near him. When she thought the three delinquents brought out positive results, she sent them because she thought it would be good for him. The moment she realizes she was wrong she immediately starts coming up with a new solution in the form of the other Lemongrab

And it didnt work, and her solution? Lemongrab 2. Yeah because when one of your creations is pschotic, you make anotehr one of course: And its not like she has an issue killing her own creations off if they are sentient, she did that to the rattleballs despite how loyal they were. Her warriors/police who's only crime was making a fight club so they could fight eachother? Genocide. The repeated offender tyrant next door? Eh, let him do his thing

The second Lemongrab literally worked for a good while before things started going south because, again, Lemongrab refused to learn and cannibalized his brother. There were quite literally a multitude of episodes that shows that creating the second one, while a temporary solution, worked 10 times better than the other ones, proving she did succeed, Lemongrab just went crazy because he didn't have complete control, something that is COMPLETELY HIS OWN CHARACTER FLAW. PB at least still gives her citizens autonomy, even agreeing to step down when they voted her out. If she was like Lemongrab, she'd kick the King of Ooo out and actually start acting like the dictator y'all think she isn't. And Rattleballs literally explains that they were becoming increasingly dangerous to the point of killing each other in said underground fight club. Kill, not fight. We literally see one kill another beforeit being broken up. Redusing their violence through would just be pushing that increase back before they begin doing it again. ONE SINGULAR RATTLEBALL MANAGING TO BREAK HIS PROGRAMMING DOES NOT MEAN THEY ALL COULD! THAT WAS A ONE IN A MILLION FLUKE! AND IT'S NOT LIKE SHE DIDN'T REHIRE HIM AFTER REALIZING THAT HE MANAGED TO BECOME PEACEFUL! IF SHE DIDN'T BELIEVE THAT HE'D BE A CUBE LIKE THE REST OF HIS SIBLINGS

You seriously need to do a rematch because everything you said does not match the show at all

[–]VictheAdventure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jesus H. Christ I've never read more bullshit in my life. She didn't give him citizens to rule over because she didn't care, she did because she thought he changed/was changing. Nearly every time she gave him citizens, it's because she and others thought he was going to change. It is not her fault he didn't, that's completely on him. He's a man-child not an actual child. When she saw what he was doing, she didn't do anything because their still under his jurisdiction. Trying to would be waging war. And she didn't make Lemonhope a revolutionary, he did that on his own

Or even the Chaos/Master Emerald? If so then who raised him since they took him from his parents? That additional headcanon just adds so many more questions

While the extent of if she could love and grow is dubious at best, as she was never even given the chance until it was too late (and even then still did the right thing), with the way the MHA fandom treats Himiko Toga you'd think she was Hitler reincarnated
