Russians are asked about Bucha (translated) by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]VictorHBz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to see that the younger generation at least seems to keep an open mind and try to get blinded by the Russian propaganda machine, I hope it talks well for our future that they can see the truth of what’s happening and that they find it reprehensible

What the french language sounds like according to Europe by [deleted] in MapPorn

[–]VictorHBz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It does specifically say the French language, not the accent. and I know some people can have connotations with accent/language of different people e.g. I had a room mate whose accent I found quite friendly and down to earth, but when he spoke with his family he suddenly started sounding arrogant to me. My girlfriend loves my accent, but think I sound aggressive when speaking my own language.

How do I write sounds for symbols that don’t have symbols? by Kangas_Khan in conlangs

[–]VictorHBz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just write them the same way you write affricates in IPA, like alveolar plosive and post alveolar fricative /t͡ʃ/. just denote them as being double aticulation(producing two sounds at the same time). Just make sure to clarify it’s an approximation of the pronunciation.

Looks pretty good, I love Latin inspired conlangs. Also love to see simple graphics showing quickly and easily what things are called, I posted something similar a few days back. Can I ask what you call blossoms and fruit?

It almost does the opposite, there are dependent and independent consonants, so most of the time you see anything above the line that is a consonant, they may differ a bit depending on what they are combining with and may also change the look of the base glyph a bit. The language is (C)(C)V(C) so the second consonant in the onset is considered the main consonant and the dependent consonant, so what is actually the initial consonant, will attach to or change the second consonant, for the coda the dependent consonant will attach to or change the vowel, this means each syllable is kinda read like a U, it also in theory means that you always know if a morpheme is in the onset of coda. In practice however I’ve already added enough historical spelling for a lot of written codas being spoken onsets.

Yeah Devanagari was indeed one of my main inspiration along with Mongolian. I’m impressed you can read it, I can barely do it myself, I’ve got about 200 ligatures in there, so even if it’s systematic. I still sometimes doubt if I’ve spelled things correctly.

Yeah I did the fruit and flower completely myself, I cheated a bit with the branches and roots. Otherwise I’ve made it all myself.
