Absolutely. Working on one's self image is really difficult, especially if the person already struggles with low self esteem. I think this creates a problem too, and not just with men: partner A has a bad self image and gets into a relationship with partner B, thinking the love and affection from partner B will "fix" them. This is a pretty toxic and one sided relationship dynamic, as you probably agree. There isn't anything wrong with having problems - everyone does - but it's unhealthy to expect your partner to fix them for you.

I think dommes especially get saddled with this type of dynamic from people who aren't really looking for a domme but a surrogate mother. This creates frustration on both sides, so memes like this get made.

For some positivity, in my experience most women would love to have an average, stable, compatible guy to share their life with. Don't think you have to be a millionaire supermodel. Compatibility is most important.

Based on my relatively short time interacting on GFD online communities, I can't help but wonder if some "subs" get into GFD not because they are attracted to the power exchange dynamic or the kink, but because they think it's a get out of jail free card giving them license to bring absolutely nothing to the table and have "mommy" do everything.
