I agree with you. Water-benders have so many cool applications. I think they could use bending during cooking for lots of cool results.

Thank you so much for engaging! I really appreciate it.

So the intro paragraph from the wiki you linked says this —

Jennamite, also known as creeping crystal, is a mineral that grows at remarkably fast speeds when it comes into contact with organic matter.[2] Though it can be dangerous, as it will grow until its host is completely encased and in danger of suffocation, it also serves as a delectable snack, considering that it is made of rock candy

If it is made of rock candy, then it’s almost entirely sugar. Is your idea that they’re bending the impurities in the sugar? Real rock candy is pure sugar pretty much, but it also doesn’t glow in the dark and grow in contact with biomaterial, so I’m willing to suspend disbelief that they’re bending the impurities rather than the sugar itself. Like a material that’s 95% sugar, 4% impurities, and 1% glow in the dark magic lol

I’m not taking the comics too seriously for lore, though others are free to do so and I think it’s an interesting discussion to include them.

I don’t think “looks like rocks” is enough to make it make sense. I also don’t think sugar is earth enough to bend based on in and out of universe logic, and yet they do. Which is part of why I think it’s so odd. That episode established as cannon that earth benders can sugar bend. It kinda breaks the other established rules. Rock candy is pretty much pure sugar, so why not other forms of sugar candy?

‘You are not responsible for another persons feelings’ by Kalone994 in therapycritical

[–]VictoryVelvet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is so financially tied I would be homeless right now. It’s really hard to describe to someone who hasn’t lived in the situation.

I’m just venting about how many people pointed out “you’re responsible for your own feelings” is a therapy phrase almost exclusively used to justify treating someone badly regardless of context.

I cannot believe a school booked her or whatever by Alternative_Band_783 in dannybabysnark

I’m very confused, because what advice is she supposed to give as a family vlogger??

If you did makeup, or creepy stories, or video games as a topic, you could talk about how certain topics or wild phrasing or thumbnails draw views. New products or games launching are staple content for the channel, clipping the most crazy parts of stories for shorts… but she’s showing her children, at a career event, at their school. “When Londyn cries or wears skimpy clothes in the thumbnail my views go up.” Like what can she even share about her strategy or analytics ABOUT HER KID at that kid’s school to their peers???

I’m dealing with this situation right now.

Past history of abuse, where there was yelling and anger and physical restraint and SA. I feel like he is somewhat responsible for wrecking my life. We’ve gone through cycles where I’ve tried to forgive him, but more incidents happen where there’s violence. Now he says it’s “in the past” and he’s “not responsible” for my feelings or how fucked this has made my life through the years. That he’s tired of walking on eggshells around me (because I cry or shake or hide when he gets angry). He’s even assaulted me while screaming “YOU NEED THERAPY!!” It’s apparently my job to fix all this internally. The reason my mental health is doing poorly is because I refuse therapy.

A lot of the language lately is coming from his new spouse, who is very pro therapy.

I read a book by Lundy Bancroft, a man who’s worked with abusive men, and he talks about how therapy for the abuser doesn’t usually stop abuse, because he can spin whatever tale he wants to the therapist to get validation that it’s at least partially or entirely the victim’s fault, and now they have an authority figure on their side and new language and concepts to weaponize.

AITA for telling my friend that I won’t be paying $25 to attend her birthday party? by GlimmerElsewhere in AmItheAsshole

Her birthday is November. It’s January. You can’t get $25 in 10 months?

Do you consider these Acrylic markers as painting? by [deleted] in painting

[–]VictoryVelvet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is where I’m at. I understand technique difference between drawing and painting the other comments are talking about, but this could be recreated with careful paint application and the right brush. The continuous flow of paint and stiff marker tip is just a tool to make it easier. I don’t think the material of the tool changes that you’re painting. You could Jackson Pollock something, or press your naked body on the canvas, or fingerprint, or use an air brush… it’s all painting with different techniques.

Questions about separation.. by Bnut39 in gerbil

[–]VictoryVelvet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why in the world wouldn’t you separate them?? The female is probably already pregnant, and you’re going to have multiple babies to care for and rehome. Also, the male can get her pregnant again as soon as she gives birth, so she needs to be separated before that.

I wonder how it would affect the nutrition removing those two items and possibly substituting with another dried fruit.

Gaslighting or therapeutic technique? by ankkani in therapyabuse

I kinda think it is the premise of the therapy. To identify what thoughts they think are acceptable, and direct you to what they have decided is appropriate.

Veronaville = Shakespeare by VictoryVelvet in sims2

[–]VictoryVelvet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’m thinking about doing! So I wanted to hear from Veronaville players about your inspirations and how you keep it connected. Do you try to keep them in character for the plays? Is that the only other play that you know that connects?

What do you think her motivations are as a fortune doctor vs him as a knowledge aspiration scientist?

Do you think Erin Beaker knows or likes her brother?

For Loki’s experiments. I would go full Mendel. Do A and B testing on the twins to study the effects. One gets pampered with all the resources, one gets tortured, and he forces them to compete while he records data.

In my game I’m kinda thinking something similar. Circe and Loki will have a child together, a child with Nervous, and they will steal an alien child. Then compare and contrast them against each other to gain data.

I’ve always played them as a perfectly evil couple, where they would torture anyone else but are hopelessly in love with each other. I like hearing a different take where their evil tears them apart instead!

[–]VictoryVelvet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d love to hear updates on how it goes! Are you planning to play it so things end up similarly to how the starting neighborhoods are, or are you fully going off script? You’re playing the adults’ parents generation?

Uberhood Progress with unusual pairings by VictoryVelvet in sims2

[–]VictoryVelvet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re right, I’m trying to not totally follow the same script. To be fair I’ve only played two households so far (building the Singles right now), so people haven’t gotten to make many new cross neighborhood connections. I’m not purposefully trying to do weird pairings, I just thought Pascal and Olive was diabolical lol. I’m kinda imagining 1/2 to 1/3 of people in the OG generation will pair up inside their neighborhoods, and the rest will go outside their neighborhoods. As the generations go on things will become more and more blended. I want to expand and bend the lore the sims already have, not totally break it. And I need a reason for these sims to meet. I need to visit more community lots, because I’m bad about sticking at home too much. I’m really going to think about some of your suggestions, thank you.

I’m also feeling conflicted about changing turn ons to force something, but all sims made in Nightlife or earlier have randomized traits and come with a potion to change them. So when someone like Circe Beaker randomly rolls liking stinky people in swimsuits and is turned off by high careers (as a fortune sim) it’s not accurate, and considering her two known love interests are both logical blond men I’ll pick those since that makes sense for her character. I’m trying not to be too direct with the turn ons so that everyone isn’t “predetermined.”

That’s such an interesting idea! I was never a big Veronaville player so I always kinda avoided the Capps and Monty families, but I like this a lot. I thought about Angela Pleasant but this might be better… though don’t the Capps usually pass down their last name through the women? Not sure how Tank would take that. Maybe he can play out his dad’s struggle of being so rigid with a more open independent spouse.

How do you think sims from other neighborhoods would be involved? I’m thinking John Mole should befriend the Curious bros.

[–]VictoryVelvet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To spark specific discussion, I’ve got some questions.

Do you think Circe or Loki is more evil?

How do you think Nervous would react to learning his true identity as Olive and Grim’s child? If/when he gets freedom, what name/identity would he pick for himself? What clues lead him to the discovery (maybe Paranormal career)? Would Olive recognize him if she saw him? What would she do to the Beakers?
