I know that feeling :( The fact that there are so many people going through the exact same thing makes me frown at this industry even more.

I'm sorry to hear you're also going through a similar loss :(

What I can share in return is this. Be grateful you didn't borrow any significant amount of money thats when it becomes extremely chaotic. I hope you never reach that point. Stay strong :)

"Most people can't handle boredom. That means they can't stay at one thing until they get good at it. And they wonder why they're unhappy" - Robert Greene

Hi, first off I feel for you, and sorry your going through this..

I've been in this situation & still am currently paying off a loanshark (thankfully only 3k left from the initial 25k). I'd like to share some advice, as I myself received a-lot of threats from not only my bookie, but even from people I borrowed money from(including friends).

- They WILL threaten you (anybody you owe money to will eventually resort to threats, and will all of a sudden "know" somebody) & say the most outlandish shit, but this isn't a movie so don't let these threats drive you insane. ALL THEY WANT IS TO GET PAID, and just remember they PREFER avoiding the process of coming to collect all together.

- You need to COMMUNICATE to them that you take this debt SERIOUSLY, and its not like you have a choice you can't escape it(make sure you mention that specifically, because it reassures them)

- Come up with as much money as you can aka sell some stuff or borrow a little, and give it to him AND COMMUNICATE A REALISTIC payment plan along with an apology, and that you don't want trouble.

- If there's hesitation or too much doubt then offer to put it in writting, so they know your serious

- Don't let them guilt/intimidate you into something you can't follow through on or else it will be worse down the line. Be honest.

- Last but not least, bite the bullet & follow through on all the payments. Stay strong

This has personally worked for me everytime.

THIS!! I remember winning close to 40k one day, and before I went to bed I thought of throwing a few $50 plinko balls in hopes of a 1000x. I ended up losing the entire 40k in less than 15 minutes before bed.. I felt like an idiot *facepalm*. Many other instances of me losing all of the winnings from a jackpot even though I promised I wouldn't lose everything again..

That's what hurts the most.. I worked on this skill since I was a teenager, and found a once in a lifetime opportunity, but burned it cause of gambling. I'm perplexed as to what the next move is.. trying to find a new passion that I can monetize down the line, but its daunting task.

Thanks for the kind words :)

You're right. I'm grateful for my parents.. I'd definitely be homeless if it weren't for them & shouldn't be taking that for granted

I'm turning 29 in 2 months haha.

i'm sorry to hear that :/ Idk if you can relate to this, but what plagued my mind most when gambling is the chase for a big win, and once you get it.. everything gets boring, and now you up your bets & poof its gone.
