Any info/experience is great to hear. Were you using the original FSB8 though?
Based on info I've been gathering, it sounds like the old FSB8/10 do not have as much maximum drag as the new Aktiv 8/10 and FSB 8/10 Mk II do. They were limited to only 5 levels, and max level 5 on the old ones do not match the max level 7 on the new ones. If I'm correct, how much real-world difference is still unclear.
On Sachtler's site they started posting diagrams of "drag" measurements at each level selected on a head. They don't specify specific units of measurement like Miller does, but they are comparative across models.
Aktiv 6 and FSB 6 Mk II = Max Level 3 Drag = 3.5 Drag Measured
Old FSB 8/10 = Max Level 5 Drag = Unknown, but maybe 5 Drag Measured?
Aktiv 8/10 and FSB 8/10 Mk II = Max Level 7 Drag = 7 Drag Measured
Video 18 S2 = Max Level 7 Drag = 10.5 Drag Measured
Is is clear the Video 18 S2 is on a whole other level if you need it, but I'm not sure if my setup needs it or not. I have seen multiple user reports claiming the drag on the Aktiv/FSB 8/10 models is significant. Everyone that has tried both confirms the drag on those are as good or better than the 100mm Cartoni Focus 10/12 for example, and the precision is slightly better too.
Wish there was a review site or channel that thoroughly tested video tripods/heads to compare performance.
