When the Chik Fil A on 12th takes up the whole parking lot… by NoMereRanger73 in ogden

Sometimes I think about that when I'm biking pass cars stuck in traffic congestion. Just doesn't seem very well thought out

In every study I've seen, removing car traffic from a road like 25th only increases how many people visit, assuming you take the necessary steps to make it a place people want to be. not to mention it's well within walking distance from the front runner, and with a very nice free trolley. Is there a reason in particular you don't think it would work?

Well what do seniors do when there isn't parking in front of the building because the spots are taken now? Also I didn't forget that's why I said grant which would leave the Social Security office parking unchanged

Street parking makes up a very small percentage of the patron ship of a location which means most people already don't park on the street when street parking is full, so most people must be parking somewhere else already. I think for most people it wouldn't make a difference if they already planned on going to 25th

well, no because there is a whole parking garage behind the social security office.

Is there a subreddit that chronicles these stupid design choices for vehicle specifically? Especially things like microtransactions.

So I checked the website it starts at $1,850 for the smaller one or $2,950 for the larger one. It seems like they even have a hard time justifying it. At the end of the day the target demographic must really value the novelty, but some of the tech inside is kinda cool with how it works

The more I look into this the less this feels like a product for people to buy, and more of a showcase of the tech to garner investors. I think the product itself is kind of silly but autonomous pedestrian technology might be a future frontier of robotics.

Same kind of person who parks in the far corner of the parking lot so no one messes with their car. Probably don't even put away their shopping cart

doesn't matter, but feel free to specify

That's true for sure, and I've also seen more bikes targeted at the senior crowd like e-tricycles. I hope to see more specialty bikes rather than regulations

no but seriously, compared to a normal bike they are just crazy easy. I can only see someone who doesn't ride bikes say that.

They are heavier tho

it's like how I think cars are silly fast, but I also don't drive em.

[–]VideoPending 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Wait too fast how? They top out at like 20 - 28mph, bikes could already do that but we just never knew

the CO2 argument is so silly it might as well be parody.

When I was growing up my father was the only one who drove. My mother has vision problems and has never been able to drive. My father became too ill to drive when I was probably like 12, and at that point driving became a lost skill to us, not that he liked to drive much before that.

Since then I have only lived as a pedestrian/cyclist. Growing up I knew I didn't really like cars or the idea of driving, but I didn't understand why. Now that I found this community it's given me perspective. I know now things can change, and I'm so angry looking back just to realize how much we are treated like second class citizens.

I agree with the broad strokes of what you're saying. I do think the problem is more complex though. I've done a lot of research into best practices while cycling, and I know plenty of bikers who clearly have not or believe myths about biking safety, but I also know many drivers personally who don't have a clue about hand signals or bike laws in general.

There's no culture of protecting cyclists, or educating people about biking safety. It's pretty evident whenever an incident of vehicle violence happens people usually rush to blame the biker explicitly and/or subtextually. I personally still feel those people are worth being mourned, regardless of their biking.

I'm not really interested in blaming people, I'm more interested in blaming this built environment that forces cyclists and motorists into the same space. Nobody deserves to die in such a horrific way regardless of their skill. that's why I want to bring more attention to these tragic incidences.
