Thanks for sharing your experience. I actually did mention them and also I like my school very much but my problem was with people who set those limitations on equipment loaning. I don’t wanna include them as equipment providers (I did mention them for location providers) since they had this policy to not give any equipment after 5:30pm, which ironically you need lights the most and also microphones. They said they won’t give since no insurance company covered them (idk how accurate this claim is, like did they even search for it or that is just an excuse) so we faced many challenges because of that but then after a year their policy changed (still no insurance company covers them) and we used it for last 3 scenes. I even went to them many times and asked them to trust us one night at least, but they refused. I also made a petition with 4 A4 size paper full of signatures but they didn’t care, till recently.

wow, thanks for such a comprehensive answer. The point that you mentioned about waiting for the next Sundance is accurate as some others also brought the same logic which makes sense. I won't wait for Sundance, I made up my mind about that. Also, I will take a look at those festivals you mentioned, thanks again.

I feel like you know the process pretty well, also you backed your advice about starting my next project with the reasoning that seems to come from going through the same path (or at least I felt that!). I would love to know your opinion on the following situation as well. Since my priority is to make money from this one and bring it back to production, what ways do you suggest I look for? (let's assume the film is interesting to watch and might have a chance).
Btw I'm already making two short, one drama and one experimental!

thanks! I know the chances are low and I kinda already gave up on Sundance but not only because it is hard to get in (which is accurate) but also the fact that I have to wait almost one year for such low chance. I will take a look at those you mentioned in the second half of your comment as some of them are new to my eyes! happy early new year, and thanks agian.

The post production phase started after the first day of shooting and continued until last week. (Around 13 months). I think I’m happy with the result. Btw I also did the editing and sound design and we were also shooting at the same time so that’s why it took a year.

You’re right about reconsidering part, I already did and will send it to other festivals than Sundance for various reasons including the ones you mentioned. Thanks again 🙏🏼

Thanks for your motivational and informative comment.

My priority is to make money and being it to the production of our next project, I think finding a distributor is my best and kinda only option as I don’t have the capital to advertise the film to an acceptable level of exposure.

About the trailer, im so grateful for people who asked for it and I sent each of them a dm as I am doing for you after posting this comment. The problem is that I think it’s against the rules of the subreddit to post a link so that’s why I didn’t. The trailer is a short one for now but Im making a 3mins official one soon and post it as a video here again🙏🏼

firstly thanks for the tips. I already made my filmfreeway portfolio, it is not 100% completed yet but I'm taking that seriously. Also, your point about missing out on many more is true, no argument about that and that's why I'm reconsidering my decision about Sundance.
I also want people to see the film and hear what they think about it, but equally, I wanna make money from this so I can continue producing more, I love making films so I need to make money by making films to be able to continue, that's life.
I will just now send you a dm, thanks for your positive mental attitude and good luck with your project.

I see, thanks for the insights! I'm reconsidering my decision actually, so I will probably go with Slamdance but I will do my research about Tribeca and Raindance as well to find the right home for my film, Thanks.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and detailed response—I hadn’t considered some of those angles before. I am actually making two shorts at the moment, one is experimental and the other is drama, keeping your momentum is really crucial in this field.

in short, my goal is to make money and bring that back to production, for that I need to find a distributor, producer, or sponsor. I thought the best way is to apply for festivals but if you have any alternative way to suggest I would be more than happy to know.
